Brian Healy gives his race-by-race selections and best bets across all of Thursday's UK and Irish racemeetings.

Five UK and Irish horse racing meetings go to post on Thursday, and there is plenty of jumps racing action taking place with fixtures over the sticks at Newbury, Market Rasen and Sedgefield; while in Ireland there is a fixture at Thurles.

Completing Thursday’s fixture list as an all-weather meeting on the polytrack at Chelmsford under the floodights.

Newbury (jumps) - 12.40 - 4.00pm (7 races)
Thurles (jumps) - 12.45 - 4.10pm (7 races)
Market Rasen (jumps) - 12.55 - 3.40pm (6 races)
Sedgefield (jumps) - 1.05 - 3.50pm (6 races)
Chelmsford (flat, aw) - 5.15 - 8.45pm (7 races)

THURSDAY 8 NOVEMBER NAP SELECTION

NEWBURY

(1.15) MISTER FISHER (6/4, BetVictor) can make a winning hurdles introduction for the Nicky Henderson team, and the Jeremy gelding should go well under James Bowen.

Winner of a Kempton bumper last March, beating Manvers House, the four-year old was thought worthy enough of a crack at the Grade Two Aintree bumper won by Portrush Ted, eventually finishing down the field in 13th place; but he had been fancied to run well though, sent off at 6/1 in the betting and there is surely better to come now he tackles obstacles.

The ground that day may have been too testing, and he ought to be more appreciative of the better surface here; while that race has thrown up several winnners, and the Jeremy gelding rates a nice hurdling prospect.

He can follow in the footsteps of the yard’s smart Claimantakinforgan to get off the mark for the season in this contest, and he could develop into a very useful sort this campaign.

Lostintranslation can make a winning chase debut at Newbury for trainer Colin Tizzard.

(1.50) LOSTINTRANSLATION (13/8, Ladbrokes) developed into a smart hurdler last term, winning at this venue in December prior to acquitting himself well in both the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle, where he got to within a half-length of Ballymore Hurdle runner-up Black Op who had chased home Samcro the time before.

Colin Tizzard’s charge looks every inch a chasing type, and the Flemensfirth gelding could well find improvement now he tackles fences having finished fourth in an Irish point-to-point prior to joining this yard.

With the benefit of course winning form, it is interesting that Robbie Power travels over from Ireland to take the reins on the Tizzard runner, and he can make a winning debut over the larger obstacles.

12.40 - New Quay
1.15 - Mister Fisher
1.50 - Lostintranslation
2.25 - Posh Trish
2.55 - Ready And Able
3.30 - De Dollar Man
4.00 - Imperial Alcazar

THURLES

(3.00) BAY HILL (2/1, Ladbrokes) has found a new lease of form since joining forces with Padraig Roche, finishing runner-up in three of his last four starts on the flat and over hurdles, and scoring over hurdles at Listowel in September.

The Verglas gelding found only Conron two lengths’ too good at Punchestown latest, headed on the run to the line; but he was three lengths’ clear of the third horse home and a subsequent 2lbs rise in the weights is offset by his promising rider’s 7lbs claim.

He can continue to run well and no surprise if he gets involved here.

12.45 - LLeyton
1.20 - Jaunty Thor
1.55 - Miss Chevious Girl
2.30 - Rain In Spain
3.00 - Bay Hill
3.35 - Moratorium
4.10 - Silk And Sand

MARKET RASEN

(1.30) Having finished runner-up in both starts between the flags in Ireland, ANNIE MC (5/2, Ladbrokes) made a promising debut under Rules when finishing third over hurdles at Chepstow last month, and Jonjo O’Neill’s charge can build on that first run to get off the mark here.

The Mahler filly was beaten six lengths by the potentially useful Posh Trish, finishing well from off the pace. That run ought to have taught her plenty, and with the potential for improvement following that promising introduction where she wasn’t given a hard time then she could well open her win account here.

Nicky Henderson can saddle a winner on Market Rasen's Thursday racecard.

(2.05) It could be worth chancing CASABLANCA MIX (5/4, Coral) to get back to winning ways over fences, and Nicky Henderson’s charge ought to go close in this Listed contest.

The Shirocco mare showed some good form over the larger obstacles last term, having been quickly switched to chasing by the Seven Barrows handler following one run over hurdles at Cheltenham.

Highly tried behind the likes of Rene’s Girl and Willoughby Court, she got off the mark at the third attempt with a defeat of Theatre Territory at Huntingdon, and she shaped well on her return behind Copain De Classe at Kempton last month where she might have won but for stumbling on landing jumping the last when upsides.

She should build on that outing; and still unexposed as a chaser, there could be better yet to come; she can get back on the score-sheet here.

12.55 - Idilico
1.30 - Annie Mc
2.05 - Casablanca Mix
2.35 - Forgot To Ask
3.10 - Heavenly Promise
3.40 - Malangen

SEDGEFIELD

(2.45) NOTONEBUTTWO (5/2, Paddy Power) isn’t the most reliable, but the Dushyantor gelding is capable of taking a hand in what looks a modest contest.

A winner for Kenny Johnson back in June 2017, he has yet to add another success to his tally; but he has shown he retains plenty of ability in his three starts to date for new handler Sue Smith, bouncing back from a rare fall at this venue to chase home Jaunty Thor at Hexham in October.

Although he turned in one of his lesser efforts last time at Bangor, finishing a distant fourth, he could be worth sticking with in a weak contest given his earlier runs for this yard.

(3.20) YOU’RE SO RIGHT (3/1,William Hill) didn’t show a great deal in his starts for Jonjo O’Neill, but the Presenting gelding could do better having joined a shrewd yard which is adept at getting improvement out of difficult types.

Now with Keith Dalgleish, the Presenting gelding steps up markedly in trip for his debut outing for this new yard, and he makes his first foray into a handicap from a potentially workable opening mark.

He could be worth chancing then as a possible improver, and the yard are enjoying a good spell at present so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him find more.

1.05 - Millie The Minx
1.40 - Shaiyzar
2.15 - Informateur
2.45 - Notonebuttwo
3.20 - You’re So Right
3.50 - I’m To Blame

CHELMSFORD

(5.45) CHITRA (7/2, William Hill) has the worst of the draw in this contest, but Daniel Kubler’s charge arrives in good health and may be up to the task of defying her berth on the outside of the field.

The Sea The Moon filly has won three of her eight starts this term, including on her latest outing at Newcastle where she ran out a near-two lengths’ winner over Micronize, winning a shade readily.

That win has drawn a 7lbs rise in the weights from the assessor, but she is progressing well and may still have more to offer; and while the draw is against her, she takes on some more exposed rivals in this contest and she looks the one to side with given her form.

Chelmsford are racing on Thursday evening.

(6.15) BRASCA (7/4, BetVictor) showed up well on his debut at Leicester back in September, finding only one too good in Desert Friend, and Ralph Beckett’s charge can go one better here.

The Nathaniel colt shaped on that occasion as if a stiffer test of stamina would suit, and this additional distance could help deliver a jolt of improvement; while the winner of that debut has since struck again.

He ought to have learnt plenty from the initial run, and likely to have more to offer he can get off the mark here.

5.15 - Nabbeyl
5.45 - Chitra
6.15 - Brasca
6.45 - Glendevon
7.15 - Breaking Records
7.45 - Breathtaking Look
8.15 - Princess Keira
8.45 - Wotadoll
