Bookmakers have slashed the odds on Kemboy winning this year’s King George VI Chase after an impressive victory in the Betway Bowl at Aintree.

Kemboy, a 9/4 favourite with leading bookies prior to the race, led from start to finish to win on the opening day of the Grand National meeting, and Betway responded to the success by slashing the odds on a King George victory for Willie Mullins’ charge all the way in from 14/1 to 7/1.

“You couldn’t help but be impressed with the way Kemboy won the Betway Bowl today,” Betway’s Alan Alger told Bettingpro.com.

“He put the race to bed in great style and has earned a quote of 25/1 to land the £1 million Stayers Chase Triple Crown.

“Willie Mullins’ seven-year-old looks to have some big days ahead of him and he’s been cut to 7/1 from 14/1 for the King George.”

Kemboy suffered Gold Cup disappointment last month but is 8/1 to bounce back and win the Cheltenham Festival showpiece race in 2020, while Betway has gone 25/1 about the seven-year-old completing a Stayers Chase Triple Crown.
