Getting underway from 1.50pm, there is also classy supporting action with the Group Three Molecomb Stakes also going to post immediately before the day’s feature race.

The eye immediately falls on high-class hurdler LIL ROCKERFELLER (4/1, Ladbrokes) who makes a return to the level having not enjoyed the best of seasons over obstacles; Neil King’s charge could bounce back to winning form though in this sphere.

The Hard Spun gelding had won twice on the flat in his younger days when trained by Richard Hannon, but he developed into a very smart sort when faced with hurdles and his notable successes over obstacles include winning the Grade Two National Spirit Hurdle back in 2016, as well as the 2017 Coral Hurdle at Ascot. He also made the frame in several Graded contests, including the 2017 Stayers’ Hurdle behind Nichols Canyon.

Last term didn’t go to plan in his four outings, but he did manage to finish runner-up twice, including in the Select Hurdle; and he returns to the flat from what could prove a very lenient mark, and he looks very well treated at the weights.

If he were to transfer his best hurdles form back onto the level, then he should be hard to beat over this extreme trip, while the booking of Sylvestre De Sousa catches the eye.

INFRASTRUCTURE (7/1, Ladbrokes) boasts a progressive profile, and Martyn Meade’s charge can follow up his latest success at Salisbury last month.

The Raven’s Pass gelding has imroved with each start, going close behind the reopposing Corgi at Sandown two starts ago, where he was beaten just one length by that rival over a shorter trip. He might have won with a clear run, but he met with plenty of trouble in running before finishing off well, and he made no mistake upped to this trip at Salisbury latest where he won a shade cosily from Mekong.

He is 2lbs worse off with third-placed Drill, who also reopposes; but he won with authority and can confirm that form with the potential for further improvement to come despite having been raised 7lbs.

Still relatively unexposed, he can go well again and Luca Cumani’s charge ought to be in the shake-up.

3:00 - Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f ITV

RUMBLE INTHEJUNGLE (4/1, Coral) produced an eye-catching debut performance to score at Salisbury in May, running out a neck winner over Well Done Fox, but looking to win with something in hand.

Richard Spencer’s Bungle Inthejungle colt lost no caste in defeat next time when thrust into the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, finishing fourth and beaten only two lengths behind Shang Shang Shang. That form looks decent with the third since winning at Listed level, while the fifth horse home went close in the July Stakes next time.

A big, scopey sort, there ought to be plenty more to come from him as he takes a slight ease in class from last time; and he can continue to improve for a yard which has been enjoying success with its’ juveniles this term.

3:35 - Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m ITV

Unbeaten WITHOUT PAROLE (7/4, BetVictor) puts his 100 percent record on the line, but John Gosden’s charge can pass his latest test with flying colours to extend his winning run to five successes.

The Frankel colt had already struck at Sandown at Listed level prior to beating opposition in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, comfortably holding the reopposing Gustav Klimt by a half-length.

He ought to have plenty of further improvement to come, and likely to continue to progress he should prove a tough nut to crack having won easier than the winning margin last time might suggest. He can confirm the form with the runner-up, while a 7lbs concession to the selection from the likes of Beat The Bank and Lord Glitters further enhances his chances.

The Gosden-trained Frankel colt looked top drawer last time, and he can improve again on that effort to land a second consecutive Group One.

Without Parole can maintain his unbeaten record in Wednesday's Sussex Stakes.

4:10 - Victoria Racing Club Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Plus 10 Race) Cl2 (2yo) 6f RUK

WELCOMING (7/1, BetVictor) failed to justify favouritism on her debut at Chepstow back in May, but Clive Cox’s charge was beaten only a head behind a potentially useful rival, and ahead of a subsequent winner.

The No Nay Never filly only gave way close home having still looked green, and she ought to have learnt plenty from that debut experience. Likely to improve as a result, there ought to be more to come from her and she looks well capable of taking a hand in the finish.

While she takes on some similarly progressive rivals, she can post a big effort with the promise of progress on the back of that first run.

4:45 - EBF Breeders' Series Fillies' Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m2f RUK

The prospect of a stronger pace ought to suit MAGNOLIA SPRINGS (5/1, Ladbrokes) better than the tactical contest that unfolded last time out at Newcastle in the Hoppings Stakes, where there was little pace early before the race developed into a sprint.

The way the race unfolded clearly didn’t suit Eve Johnson Houghton’s Shamardal filly who is perhaps better judged on her earlier win over course and distance when taking the Height Of Fashion Stakes; quickening well off the strong pace to score readily.

Still unexposed, she can bounce back from that disappointing effort last time, and with this race likely to be run at a more generous gallop, she should have the race run more to suit than last time.

She can bounce back as a result, and having already won here, she can resume winning ways.

5:55 - Goodwood Racehorse Owners Group Handicap Cl3 (3yo+ 0-95) 7f RUK

Mark Johnston is no stranger to success at this venue, and it could be worth chancing a return to winning form by MASHAM STAR (14/1, William Hill) who has been contesting at a higher grade than this, and the Lawman gelding can get back on the scoresheet.

A winner at Windsor back in June, where he was ending an eleven-race losing streak, he has run with credit since behind the likes of Tiger du Terre at Sandown - finishing fourth - and when running well despite only finishing ninth in the Bunbury Cup under a penalty.

His latest run saw him unseat his rider soon after the start at Newmarket, but taking a slight ease back in class for this latest outing he ought to make his presence felt and he can run well. He has won and placed from higher marks in the past, so no surprise if he were to go close.
