Bookies forced to slash odds on familiar face becoming next Prime Minister

Theresa May continues to cling onto her position as Prime Minister, but when she does believe the role a whole host of Paddy Power punters believe she could be replaced by a man who is no stranger to occupying 10 Downing Street.

The Irish bookmaker has been forced to slash the odds on former Prime Minister David Cameron becoming the next PM after taking a “handful of four-figure bets” on that happening on Tuesday night.

Whether that can legally happen remains to be seen, but the gamble has forced Paddy Power to slash the odds on him becoming the next Prime Minister all the way into 33/1 from 80/1.

“Just when you though this Brexit storm couldn’t get any worse, my traders are reporting that we’ve seen a major run of money on David Cameron being the next Prime Minister,” a Paddy Power spokesperson told Bettingpro.com.

“I’m not entirely sure of the intricacies – which is Brexit all over, isn’t it? – but we’ve had to slash the odds on Cameron making a comeback, despite not even being an MP. I’m going to find a dark room to lie down in.”

Cameron’s odds may have been slashed, but he is a long way behind the leading contenders in the Next Prime Minister betting market, with Jeremy Corbyn the current favourite at 5/1 ahead of 6/1 Boris Johnson and 7/1 Sajid Javid.

Latest Paddy Power Odds
