Behind Enemy Lines ahead of the 2017-18 Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership season: We get betting tips from Ladbrokes Traders ahead of the new SPFL season

Neil Roarty 1 Aug 2017

We spoke to Stuart Martin of Ladbrokes ahead of the start of the 2017-18 Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership kick off to get his betting tips and best bets for all of the major ante-post markets.

The 2017-18 Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership season begins on Saturday August 5 and ahead of the big kick-off we speak to Ladbrokes' Stuart Miller, the firm's SPFL Sponsorship and Events Executive, to get his predictions, tips and best bets for the new campaign.

Speaking of his excitement Stuart said:

"Clubs have all done excellent business in the transfer window, for what is shaping up to be a really exciting Ladbrokes Premiership season, with battles set to heat up throughout the table. We are proud to be a part of what will be a fantastic season."

Who will win the Ladbrokes Premiership in the 2017-18 season?

SM: In short. Celtic. Debatably the best Celtic side constructed in recent history. With internationalists in almost every position and coach Brenden Rodgers at the helm. Plenty of fire power with Dembele, Griffith's and Scott Sinclair leading that  attack. They have strengthened with options such as Hayes from Aberdeen and Benyu a a teenage prodigy from Ipswich to what was already an unbeaten league season, last campaign making it very difficult to look past Celtic although not alot of value at 1/10. Flip that around and we go 10/1 for Celtic to go unbeaten in the league for a second consecutive season.

What about the more competitive 'Betting Without Celtic' market?

SM: Betting without Celtic however is much more interesting. Aberdeen will be strong. (5/4) The signing of Gary MacKay Steven from Celtic is a big one, not to mention holding on to gaffer Derek Mckinnes despite holding talks with Sunderland. Rangers (10/11) fans will demand an improvement this season after being left 30 points behind the champions last term. Pedro Caixinha has brought in quality in Dorrans and Bruno Alves to help close that gap. Neil Lennon and Hibs (16/1) have put together a robust Premiership looking squad with targets such as Anthony Stokes likey to follow to and strengthen even further. If Hearts (12/1) can get their act together, start well and hold onto the likes of Jamie Walker then they have potential too with the squad they have.

Who will Finish Bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership this season?

SM: To Finish Bottom is equally as interesting. Hamilton (7/4) will be there or thereabouts again, after surviving by the skin of they're teeth in the play off last season. Then its a toss up between potentially Patrick (3/1), Dundee (9/2) and possibly Motherwell (5/1) or Kilmarnock (5/1).

Who is the best bet to be Top Goalscorer in the Ladbrokes Premiership this season?

SM: Hard to look past any of the three Celtic front men in Griffith's, (9/2) Dembele (5/2) and Scott Sinclair (9/2). All equally prolific. If Adam Rooney (14/1) can stay fit for the Don's he is likely to be the only realistic challenger to the Premiership Golden Boot. Although for an outside chance Kyle Lafferty at (16/1) who has  the pedigree and has scored in nearly every game he's played for hearts thus far.
