It’s week nine of the NFL and our player props expert Marcas Brennan is on hand to take a look at who we should follow on Sunday night.

Drew Brees over 286.5 passing yards

I’m anticipating a close game between the Buccaneers and the Saints on Sunday night and Drew Brees will be expected to lead his team to victory against a terrible Tampa Bay pass defence.  A good running game and some terrific play on defence saw the Saints go undefeated in October but this is a real banana skin for Sean Payton’s men as everyone expects them to win such is their form. Brees surpassed the above mark in two of the three home games played so far and he should have no problems against a team that is 30th in the league in average yards per game conceded to opposing QB’s.

Alex Smith over 257.5 passing yards

Alex Smith has been terrific up until now and it’s clear to see he has evolved his game into a good quarterback instead of a good game manager. Last year this line would scare the pants off you, such was Smith’s reluctance to throw the ball deep. But it is different now. The Chiefs are third in the league for passing yards and Smith has connected on six occasions of passes of over 40 yards. He should come within touching distance of the mark should the game be a close contest which is highly likely.

Zach Ertz over 54.5 receiving yards

The Eagles welcome the Denver Broncos to Philadelphia and this will be a true test for Carson Wentz. He has been exceptional to date but faces arguably the best secondary in the country when Denver comes to town.  Chris Harris and Aqib Talib are two of the best cover men in the business and this generally sees opposing quaterbacks forced into shorter and safer throws to running backs and tight ends. This bodes well for the Eagles best player on offence. Ertz is in the top three tight ends in the NFL at the moment and he is sure to have plenty of passes thrown his direction.

Leonard Fournette over 88.5 rushing yards & Leonard Fournette first touchdown scorer

Fournette has been impressive in his rookie season and his return from injury means we get to see an excellent running back handed the ball on 20 plus occasions.  Freshness and a high amount of carries should see him surpass the above line, as is averaging 25 carries per game while the Jaguars are also leading the league in rushing yards per game. The formula is simple for Doug Marrrone’s men, play strong defence and grind the ball down with an elite running game. It is far easier to run the ball than pass against the Bengals and this should be a 100 yard game for the rookie of the year candidate. Fournettte is also averaging a touchdown per game and he is worth siding with in the first touchdown market.

Cristian McCaffrey to score a touchdown

Cristian McCaffrey is slowly becoming a central part of the Carolina Panthers offence and there are no doubts that he is to be further involved going forward after they traded receiver Kelvin Benjamin to the Bills. McCaffrey has become particularly dangerous catching balls out of the backfield and the Panthers struggle against these types of backs. 5/2 is too big of a price for the dynamic rookie.
