NFL predictions for Saturday’s NFL Divisional Round playoff games. Who will win the ‘Battle of the Birds’ between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles, and can the Tennessee Titans spring a huge upset against the New England Patriots? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips.

Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles (Saturday 21:35 GMT)

Atlanta sprang one of the surprises of Wildcard Weekend as they knocked off the Los Angeles Rams and that high powered offense at the Memorial Coliseum. Matt Bryant booted in four field goals and both Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones went in for a score as the Falcons ran out 26-13 winners, and they must now head out on the road once again this weekend as they take on the number one seeds, Philadelphia, at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles came into the playoffs with the best record in the NFC but their stock has dropped dramatically in recent weeks after they lost starting quarterback Carson Wentz to a season-ending injury. His backup, Nick Foles, was able to lead the team to two wins in their final three games of the regular season, but he produced a pathetic showing in the Week 17 defeat to Dallas, in which Philly failed to score a single point, and that has left alarm bells ringing in the ‘city of brotherly love’.

So can Foles turn it around this Saturday night or will Atlanta move a step closer to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances? I am backing the Falcons.

That defense did an outstanding job of slowing Jared Goff, Todd Gurley & Co. last weekend, and while the Eagles boast a whole host of offensive weapons it is hard to see Foles making use of them like Wentz was able to do prior to his injury. The Falcons defense should shut down this Philadelphia offense, and on the opposite side of the ball Matt Ryan and his offensive team-mates will do enough to ensure his team win by at least a touchdown to set up a return to the NFC Championship Game.

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots (Sunday 01:15 GMT)

The Tennessee Titans grabbed some headlines last weekend as they came back from 21-3 down to beat the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium – a comeback that included a bizarre moment that saw Marcus Mariota catch his own pass to dive in for a touchdown. But they face a huge challenge in trying to pull off another upset here, with a trip to New England next up for them.

While Tennessee were writing headlines on the field last weekend, New England have been the subject of off-field headlines with reports claiming there is a rift between head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. Of course, the team have denied those reports, but even if Belichick and Brady have fallen out I do not expect to see that spill over onto the field.

Over the past decade-plus no other team has been as impressive as New England have at this crucial time of the season, especially on their home turf, and they will be laser-focused on a return to the Super Bowl as they look to life the Vince Lombardi Trophy in back-to-back seasons. Tennessee will not knock them off course here.

The Titans did well to get the better of the Chiefs a week ago, but that offense does not inspire much confidence despite that second-half surge at Arrowhead, and on the opposite side of the ball this Tennessee defense gave up 21 points in the first half against Kansas City. That does not bode well for a meeting with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski, who were dominating defenses during the final few weeks of the regular season. Rested up and raring to go after a Wildcard Weekend bye, the Patriots should win this matchup in comprehensive fashion.
