Washington Capitals at Pittsburgh Penguins (23:00 GMT)

The Washington Capitals visit the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fourth and final meeting between the Metropolitan Division sides in the regular season. The Penguins drew first blood 7-6 in overtime at home last October 5 before the Capitals escaped with a 2-1 win their rematch in the US capital on November 8. The Penguins again triumphed 2-1 in their duel in Washington on December 20. The division-best Capitals (41-21-7, 89 points) extended their winning run to seven games after beating the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Sunday. Goals from Nicklas Backstrom, Carl Hagelin and Lars Eller propelled the defending Stanley Cup champions to victory while back-up goalie Pheonix Copley made 33 saves. The Penguins (37-23-9, 83 points), meanwhile, to stay ahead of Carolina and Columbus in the race for the No 3 seed in the division. They are coming off a 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Sunday. Jared McCann scored twice to lead Pittsburgh to their fifth win in seven games. Nick Bjugstad and Jake Guentzel also lit the lamp while Matt Murray made 39 saves. San Jose Sharks at Winnipeg Jets (00:00 GMT on Wednesday)

Division leaders Winnipeg Jets and San Jose Sharks face off for the third time this season. The Jets posted a 5-3 win in San Jose last December 20 before the Sharks triumphed 3-2 in overtime in Winnipeg on February 5. The Jets (40-24-4, 84 points) failed to increase their lead over Nashville in the Central Division title race after concluding their four-game trip with a 3-1 loss at Washington on Sunday. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will lead Winnipeg in this duel along with Kyle Connor and Patrik Laine. The Sharks (42-19-8 92 points), meanwhile, have won their last five games to stay a point ahead of Calgary in the battle for the Pacific Division crown and the top spot in the Western Conference. They posted a 3-0 win at Minnesota on Monday with Barclay Goodrow, Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture each scoring a goal. Martin Jones made 24 saves to record his third shutout of the season. Couture and Hertl are again expected to lead San Jose in this match-up along with Brent Burns and top goal scorer Joe Pavelski. We expect the Sharks to triumph in Canada.
