NHL betting tips from Bettingpro.com's expert, including the best bets from Montreal Canadiens at New York Islanders and Boston Bruins at Winnipeg Jets.

Montreal Canadiens at New York Islanders (23:00 GMT)

The New York Islanders are determined to keep pace with the Washington Capitals in the Metropolitan Division title race while the Montreal Canadiens need this win to stay in the wildcard race. The Islanders (40-22-7, 87 points) are currently two points behind the Capitals and are coming off a 2-0 victory over Columbus on Monday night. Ryan Pulock and Anders Lee each scored a goal while Thomas Greiss made 31 saves for his fifth shutout this season. New York have won three of their last four games. Lee is again out to impress in this duel and he will lead the Islanders along with Mathew Barzal, Josh Bailey and Brock Nelson. Ace goalie Robin Lehner could suit up for the Islanders after being inactive since suffering an injury last March 5. The Canadiens (37-26-7, 81 points), meanwhile, are currently tied with Columbus for the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference. They are currently two points behind Carolina. Montreal are coming off a 3-1 home win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday to snap a two-game skid. Max Domi scored twice while Brett Kulak also scored to lead the Canadiens. The Canadiens have won their last three meetings against the Islanders after losing three in a row in the series. The Canadiens edged the Islanders 4-3 in a shootout last November 5 in their first meeting this season. We expect the Islanders to pick up this win.

Boston Bruins at Winnipeg Jets (00:00 GMT on Friday)

The Boston Bruins are hoping to end their three-game trip on a positive note when they head to Winnipeg for their second meeting against the Jets this season. Back-to-back losses at Pittsburgh (4-2) and Columbus (7-4) left the Bruins with 93 points (42-19-9) but they remain ahead of Toronto in second spot in the Atlantic Division. Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron are expected to lead the Bruins, who had won 13 of 14 prior to those losses. Marchand scored twice and issued an assist against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Jaroslav Halak will start in place of regular goalie Tuukka Rask in this game. The Jets (40-25-4, 84 points) are also determined to get back on track after suffering defeats to Washington (3-1) and San Jose (5-4). They have lost three of their last four games and are currently just a point ahead of Nashville in the battle for the Central Division top spot. Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele are the one-two punch of Winnipeg. The Jets edged the Bruins 4-3 in a shootout in Boston last January 29 in their first meeting this season. The last three meetings between Boston and Winnipeg ended in a shootout. We are backing the Jets to beat the Bruins at home.
