NHL betting tips from Bettingpro.com's expert, including the best bets from New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators.

New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins (00:00 GMT on Friday)

The New York Islanders are targeting their third-straight win over the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. The Islanders posted a 6-3 victory in Pittsburgh last October 30 and needed a shootout to win their rematch 3-2 in Brooklyn three days later. Barry Trotz’s boys, however, are struggling lately. They suffered a 1-3 home loss to Winnipeg on Tuesday for their third defeat in four games. Anders Lee opened the scoring early in the third period but the Jets countered with three goals to seal the win. The Islanders dropped to 13-10-3 with 29 points and are currently ranked third in the Metropolitan Division behind Washington and Tampa Bay. The Penguins (11-10-5, 27 points) are also struggling but they are coming off a 6-3 home triumph over Colorado on Tuesday to halt a two-game skid. Patric Hornqvist scored all of his three goals in the third period and issued an assist to lead Pittsburgh back on track. The Swedish winger achieved the feat in a span of three minutes to record the fastest hat trick in franchise history. Jake Guentzel, Evgeni Malkin and Derick Brassard also scored for the Penguins, who led 3-0 after the first period before giving up three goals in the succeeding frame. We expect the Penguins to bounce back.

Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators (00:30 GMT on Friday)

The Montreal Canadiens are targeting their second win over the Ottawa Senators in three days. Behind two goals from Max Domi, the Canadiens downed the Senators 5-2 at home on Tuesday night. Jonathan Drouin, Artturi Lehkonen and Brendan Gallagher also scored as Montreal avenged their overtime loss at Ottawa last October. Domi also issued an assist while Drouin had two assists. Ottawa’s goals came from Dylan DeMelo and Mark Stone. The Canadiens improved to 13-10-5 with 31 points in the Atlantic Division while the Senators dropped to 12-13-3 with 27 points. Ottawa had won three in a row prior to Tuesday’s game. We expect Montreal to pick up another win in the series.
