NHL betting tips from Bettingpro.com's expert, including the best bets from Washington Capitals at Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators at San Jose Sharks.

Washington Capitals at Tampa Bay Lightning (23:00 GMT)

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals meet for the first time since last season’s Eastern Conference finals. The Capitals needed seven games to eliminate the Lightning and went on to beat the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup finals. Both teams lead their respective divisions. The NHL-best Lightning (54-13-4, 112 points) are on the verge of hoisting the Presidents’ Cup and are on track of surpassing the league record 62 wins set by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings. Tampa Bay are coming off a 5-4 victory at Detroit on Thursday to push their winning streak to three games. The league leaders have won 15 of their last 17 games and a victory over the Capitals in this duel will allow them to set a new record for most wins in a season. NHL scoring leader Nikita Kucherov is out to impress anew after posting two goals and two assists against the Red Wings. Steven Stamkos shared the spotlight with Kucherov by tying Vincent Lecavalier for most career goals in Tampa Bay history. Expected to back up Kucherov and Stamkos in this showdown are Brayden Point, Victor Hedman and Tyler Johnson. The Capitals (42-22-7, 91 points) are also on a roll to stay ahead of the New York Islanders in the race for the Metropolitan Division crown. The defending Stanley Cup champions are coming off a 5-2 win at Philadelphia on Thursday to get back on track after their seven-game winning streak ended in Pittsburgh two days earlier. Washington boast of NHL top goal scorer Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson and Evgeny Kuznetsov while Brett Connolly is out to steal the thunder from the club’s superstars after tallying two goals and an assist against the Flyers. We are backing Tampa Bay to triumph in this exciting contest.

Nashville Predators at San Jose Sharks (02:30 GMT on Sunday)

Both the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators are locked in a tight battle in their respective divisions. The Sharks are neck-and-neck with the Calgary Flames in the race for the Western Conference and Pacific Division top spot while the Predators are battling the Winnipeg Jets for the Central Division title. The Sharks (43-20-8, 94 points) were denied an outright play-off berth after losing to the Florida Panthers 4-2 at home on Thursday. The loss snapped San Jose’s six-game winning streak. Brent Burns, Tomas Hertl, Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture are expected to lead the Sharks back on track. The Predators (40-27-5, 85 points), meanwhile, are aiming to end their three-game trip with another victory after posting a 3-1 triumph at Los Angeles on Thursday night. Goals from Viktor Arvidsson, Craig Smith and Colton Sissons allowed Nashville to end a two-game slump. Arvidsson improved his team-best goals output to 29. Expected to help the Swedish right wing in the scoring chores are Ryan Johansen, Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg and Mattias Ekholm. The Predators are currently a point behind the Jets in the race for the Central Division title. The Sharks posted a 5-4 win at Nashville last October 23 and won their rematch 3-1 in San Jose on November 13. We expect another win for the Sharks in the series.
