Carolina Hurricanes at Columbus Blue Jackets (23:00 GMT)

The Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jackets square off for the fourth and final time in the regular season. The Metropolitan Division sides are in a tight race with Pittsburgh for the No 3 seed in the division and the two wildcard berths in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes (38-24-7, 83 points) are currently holding on to the first wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference but they are just ahead of Columbus and Montreal. They are aiming to sweep a three-game trip after posting wins at Nashville (5-3) and Colorado (3-0). Andrei Svechnikov is out to impress anew after scoring twice and issuing an assist  in their win in Denver on Monday. He will team up with Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Justin Williams in this duel. Petr Mrazek is also a marked man after stopping 38 shots in their last game to secure his fourth shutout of the season. The Blue Jackets (39-28-3, 81 points) are also upbeat heading into this important battle after blasting the Boston Bruins 7-4 at home on Tuesday. Boone Jenner recorded his first career hat-trick to lead the onslaught. Josh Anderson and Zach Werenski had a goal and three assists each for the Blue Jackets while Ryan Dzingel and Matt Duchene added a goal apiece. Sergei Bobrovsky had 27 saves although he gave up three consecutive goals in the second period that allowed Boston to trim the gap to 5-4 entering the final 20 minutes of play. The Hurricanes posted a 3-1 victory in Columbus last October 5 before the Blue Jackets bounced back with a 4-1 triumph in Raleigh on November 17. The Hurricanes won their third meeting 4-2 at home on January 4. We are backing Columbus to pick up a win in this duel.

Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars (00:00 GMT on Saturday)

The Vegas Golden Knights are aiming to sweep their regular-season series against the Dallas Stars. The Golden Knights posted a 4-2 home win over the Stars last October 11 and won their rematch 4-1 in Las Vegas last February 26. Vegas have won three in a row in the series and the Stars have never beaten the Golden Knights at home. The Golden Knights (38-27-5, 81 points) are aiming to get back on track after their six-game winning streak ended at Calgary on Sunday. Goals from Brandon Pirri, Reilly Smith and Mark Stone were not enough as the Flames cruised to a 6-3 win behind Matthew Tkachuk’s first hat-trick in the NHL. Stone, who was acquired from Ottawa last month, scored for the second straight game and extended his points streak to three games. He will team up with Smith, Alex Tuch, Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson in this match-up. The Golden Knights are comfortably ahead of Arizona in the battle for the No 3 seed in the Pacific Division. The Stars (37-28-5), meanwhile, are neck-and neck with the St. Louis Blues in the race for third place and an automatic post-season berth in the Central Division. Both teams have 79 points with the Stars currently ranked third in the division and the Blues holding on to the first wildcard berth. They are just two points ahead of Arizona. Back-to-back wins at Buffalo (2-0) and Minnesota (4-1) allowed Dallas to overtake St. Louis in the division. They have won eight of their last 11 games. The bad news for Dallas fans is goaltender Ben Bishop will likely sit out this game after leaving in the first period against the Wild on Thursday with a lower-body injury. The veteran goaltender extended his scoreless streak to 240 minutes and 53 seconds to break the franchise-best mark set by Ed Belfour in 2000 before being replaced by Anton Khudobin. Expected to lead the Stars in this duel are Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Alexander Radulov, who scored in their last game. We expect Vegas to triumph over Dallas.
