Boston Bruins at Columbus Blue Jackets (00:30 BST on Friday) - Eastern Conference Semi-finals Game 4

The Columbus Blue Jackets are aiming for another win over the Boston Bruins in their Eastern Conference semi-final duel. The wildcards seized a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series after pulling off a 2-1 win at the Nationwide Arena on Tuesday night. Goals from Boone Jenner and Matt Duchene were enough to secure the win for the Blue Jackets, who have won two in a row in the series after losing the opener. They improved to 6-1 in the play-offs. Two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky took care of business on the defensive end, making 36 saves to follow up his 29-save effort in their 3-2 double-overtime triumph in Game 2. Jake DeBrusk scored Boston’s lone goal late in the second period to cut Columbus’ lead to 2-1 but neither team scored in the final period. Tuukka Rask had 32 saves for Boston, who had won three in a row prior to their successive defeats. Duchene tallied his fifth goal in the play-offs to improve his points tally to nine. He and Artemi Panarin leads the team in scoring. Boston’s Charlie Coyle failed to score for the first time in the series after tallying two goals in Game 1 and an assist in Game 2. Brad Marchand was again a non-factor for the Bruins. The 30-year-old left winger was held without a point for the fourth consecutive game after tallying four goals and five assists in their first-round series win over Toronto. David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron are also struggling after playing well against the Maple Leafs. We expect the Blue Jackets to win this contest.

San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche (03:00 BST on Friday) - Western Conference Semi-finals Game 4

The San Jose Sharks are aiming for a commanding lead over the Colorado Avalanche when the two teams face off in Game 4 of their Western Conference semi-final showdown. The Sharks took a 2-1 upper hand in the best-of-seven series after preying on the Avalanche 4-2 on Tuesday. Logan Couture recorded his first career play-off hat-trick, including the tie-breaking goal, to lead San Jose back on track following their 4-3 home loss in Game 2. The 30-year-old scored his second goal just over a minute after Matt Nieto tied the scores at 2-2 in the third period and added a third goal 30 seconds from time. Couture now has nine goals in the play-offs and leads the team in scoring with 12 points. Timo Meier scored San Jose’s other goal and issued two assists. Gustav Nyquist had two assists while Martin Jones made 25 saves. Nathan MacKinnon also scored for Colorado while Philipp Grubauer made 27 saves. MacKinnon improved his goals tally in the post-season to five and currently has 12 points. Mikko Rantanen failed to earn a point after scoring at least one in their previous six games. We are backing the Avalanche to bounce back in this contest.
