NHL betting tips from Bettingpro.com's expert, including the best bets from New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes and St Louis at Dallas Stars.

New York Islanders at Carolina Hurricanes (00:00 BST on Thursday) - Eastern Conference Semi-finals Game 3

The Carolina Hurricanes head home with a commanding 2-0 lead over the New York Islanders in their Eastern Conference semi-final duel after winning Game 1 and Game 2 in Brooklyn. Rod Brind'Amour’s boys followed up their 1-0 overtime win in Game 1 with a 2-1 triumph on Sunday. Warren Foegele and Nino Niederreiter scored back-to-back goals early in the third period to lead the visitors to their fourth consecutive win in the post-season. Petr Mrazek made nine saves before leaving the game in the second period due to a lower-body injury. Curtis McElhinney replaced him and stopped 17 shots. Mathew Barzal put the Islanders ahead in the first period while Robin Lehner made 16 saves. McElhinney will likely start for the Hurricanes in Game 3. Mrazek was not the only casualty for Carolina in Game 2 as Trevor Riemsdyk (shoulder) and Saku Maenalanen (upper body) also made premature exits. Both players are likely out of the series, prompting the Hurricanes to recall Alex Nedeljkovic and Jake Bean from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League. Niederreiter, who assisted Jordan Staal’s winning goal in Game 1, is again out to impress in this duel. The former Islander tallied just an assist in their first-round series win over the Washington Capitals that lasted seven games. We expect Carolina to pick up another win in the series.

St Louis at Dallas Stars (02:30 BST on Thursday) - Western Conference Semi-finals Game 4

The St Louis Blues will try to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the Dallas Stars in their Western Conference semi-final duel. The Blues edged the Stars 4-3 at the American Airlines Centre on Monday to take the upper hand in the best-of-seven series. Patrick Maroon scored the tie-breaking goal with just 1:38 left as the Blues avenged their 4-2 home loss in Game 2. Jaden Schwartz had a goal and an assist while Tyler Bozak and Alex Pietrangelo also scored for St Louis, who preserved their unbeaten record on the road in the play-offs. Pietrangelo’s goal - his first since February 19 - gave the Blues a 3-2 lead at the 14:24 mark of the third period before Tyler Seguin levelled the scores just over a minute later. Jordan Binnington had 28 saves for the Blues. Alexander Radulov and Andrew Cogliano were the other goal scorers for the Stars while Ben Bishop tallied 30 saves. Schwartz has now scored six goals in the post-season and he and Pietrangelo lead the Blues with eight points each. We expect the Blues to take a commanding lead back to St Louis.
