Bookmaker Ladbrokes is predicting a £250 million record-breaking betting spree across the UK and Ireland on Grand National day.

The Aintree show-piece is the biggest single event of the bookies' year and Ladbrokes, a win for Tiger Roll will be the worst result in the races’ history as he bids to emulate Red Rum with back-to-back wins.

The Gordon Elliott-trained super star is the red-hot favourite for the world’s most famous race at odds of just 7/2 and has been attracting attention all year. Other horses that are starting to become popular include Joe Farrell (25/1), Jury Duty (25/1), One For Arthur (33/1), and Vintage Clouds (14/1).

“All betting record books are expected to be torn up on Grand National day as turnover levels could reach a staggering £250 million across the industry,” Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady told Bettingpro.com.

“Every punter has a different method as to how they pick their horse. Tiger Roll needs no introduction as he bids to do the double, while those who relate to the names Joe and Arthur, are making sure to have a flutter on Joe Farrell and One For Arthur.”
