US Open betting tips: Our best 3 Balls bets for day 1 at Pebble Beach

The US Open gets underway on Thursday and our resident golf expert, Nigel Seeley, has been casting his eye over the first day's three-ball groupings to pick out his favourite bets.

The action starts at 2.45pm and I have found FOUR bets to give you some interest all through the afternoon to play in singles or maybe a small stakes yankee.

My first bet is in the (3.51) grouping which features a trio of former major champions MARTIN KAYMER, Ernie Els and Zac Johnson and I really like Kaymer to start fast and win this three-ball at 11/10 with William Hill.

The German won the US Open title in 2014 becoming one of a just a few players to win two majors under the age of 30 since then he hasn't hit the heights that many would've expected, but the signs are clear that he is heading back into top form after a season best third at The Memorial in his last start.

SHANE LOWRY is one of my tip to be the top European at Pebble Beach and I fancy the Irishman to get off to a fast start and win his first round three-ball at generous looking 6/4 with William Hill. The big hitting Irishman is paired alongside Gary Woodland and Tyrell Hatton (4.13) and on the evidence of his runner-up finish last week in Canada he arrives in Pebble Beach in top form.

Lowry was brought up on the links courses in Ireland and will relish the testing conditions and I fancy him to come through here and have a very good tournament to keep his dream alive and represent Europe in the 2020 Ryder Cup.

I couldn't have a three-ball bet without including our tournament main tip PATRICK CANTLAY and I am happy to take William Hill’s 11/10 on our US Open fancy beating Paul Casey and Lucas Glover (9.05)

Cantlay is THE in-form golfer in the World and after four top 10 finishes in his last five events and a win in his last start at The Memorial he is a really contender to win his first major at a venue Pebble Beach that he knows really well having been brought up in Long Beach, California.

Not only do I like this bet because of the form that Cantlay is in, I love the grouping as Casey is one player that I can't have at all this week in these conditions and Glover is a player who peaked earlier on in the season and his form has dipped in the last few weeks.

My final bet is a player that I have been really impressed with this season JUSTIN HARDING who is 7/4 yet again with William Hill to beat PGA Tour journeyman Andrew Putnam and Aaron Baddeley (10.09).

Harding was runner-up at the Kenya Open on the European Tour in March and a week later went one better winning the Qatar Masters and he has continued that great form over in America with an impressive 12th at the US Masters and a top 10 at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May and should be too strong for his first round opponents.
