Tiger Woods No Longer Favourite for Players Championship

Bettingpro Staff 5 May 2010
Tiger Woods is unfancied for this week's Players Championship

First time in 15 years that Tiger has started a PGA event not favourite

Tiger Woods odds of winning the upcoming Players Championship have been lengthened from 7/1 to 8/1 with WilliamHill, who report that it is the first time in 15 years that the world number one has started a PGA event as anything other than favourite.

That honour goes to Phil Mickelson, tipped on Bettingpro for the title, who has been cut by Hills to 15/2.

Tiger had a bad day’s practice yesterday, and admitted afterwards that his off-course problems had been impacting on his game.

Woods is now just 7/2 to miss the cut at Sawgrass, after punters snapped up the original 9/2 on offer, and Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams told Bettingpro:

"For the first time in almost fifteen years Tiger is not the favourite to win a tournament he is entered in and punters are lumping on him, missing the cut again,"

Last week’s winner at Quail Hollow, Rory McIlroy has been attracting some support, and is now 20/1, from 22/1.
