Nigel Seeley’s three from the tee for the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Nigel Seeley 25 Jun 2019

Rocket Mortgage Classic betting tips for this week. Read on for our expert tips for the Rocket Mortgage Classic taking place at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.

Rocket Mortgage Classic

After nailing a 66/1 winner last week with Chez Reavie at The Travellers Championship we get back to business on the PGA Tour with the inaugural Rocket Mortgage Classic from Detroit Golf Club, Michigan.

This is the first time in nine years that PGA golf has been held in Motown and with no course form to go on it's a difficult week for punting and despite our wallets loaded after Reavie's success I would keep the stakes very small.

It's a top heavy line-up assembled in Detroit and World number one Dustin Johnson is a worthy favourite and heads the betting at just 6/1 when considering his last two starts, which have been very poor by his high standards, despite the quality of the field he is a player that just can't be touched at those odds.

Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama are next in the betting at 12/1 and 14/1 and both have started to see some early money, but both again look too short for me. Fowler hasn't competed at the top end of a tournament for a long time and really struggles to put four rounds together presently and Matsuyama is steady with four straight top 25 finishes but he hasn't won a tournament for almost two years and that is a huge concern if taking the short odds.

US Open champion Gary Woodland is making his first appearance since winning at Pebble Beach and the 35 year-old will have to live up to the extra pressure of being a major winner for the first time in Detroit and that is an experience which will take some time to cope with and with the extra media attention I won't be rushing to take the 14/1 on offer.

So in Motown this week who is going to be "My Guy"?

Three From The Tee

Ryan Moore @ 33/1 bet365
* Odds correct at 10:23 BST on 25/6/2019

RYAN MOORE is the main selection this week at 33/1 and the five time PGA tour winner arrives in Motor City in great form after a nice week at The Travellers where he finished in a share of 15th spot which included an excellent round of 64 on Friday.

Moore hasn't won on the PGA Tour since The John Deere Classic in 2016, but this year he's been runner-up and third and his game is peaking to go one better.

To win at this Donald Ross designed course you are going to have to be straight off the tee and Moore is third on the tour in fairways hit and his record previously on Ross designed courses is an impressive one and he will give us a nice run for our money to try and follow up from Reavie's success.

Kevin Kisner @ 35/1 William Hill

Another player who finished alongside Moore in a share of 15th at The Travellers is my second choice this week and that is KEVIN KISNER at 35/1.

Kisner won the World Match Play in March and since that big money win his form dipped with a couple of missed cuts, but in the last few weeks he's been getting better and better and was flying last week with a couple of excellent rounds with a fantastic 65 on Friday and a final round 67. Kisner is a very talented golfer and was starting tournaments close to favouritism a few months back and now in-form he looks too big at 40/1 to continue where he left off in Connecticut.

Kevin Streelman @ 40/1 Coral

My final selection is KEVIN STREELMAN who is 40/1 with Coral.

Streelman is amazingly another player who finished in a tie for 15th at The Traveller and the 40 year-old has been in ultra-consistent form all season with four top 15 finishes in four of his last seven starts which includes a very impressive fourth at The Memorial earlier this month.

Streelman figures highly in all of the PGA stats this season and in an event which isn't going to take much winning he arrives in form and capable of challenging for his third PGA tour win.
