Hideki Matsuyama backed for USPGA Championship after winning WGC title

Neil Roarty in Golf 7 Aug 2017

Hideki Matsuyama won the 2017 WGC Bridgestone and the Japanese has been immediately backed from 18/1 to 12/1 to win the USPGA Championship

An outstanding final round from Hideki Matsuyama saw the 25-year-old seal a second World Golf Championship Title inside 12 months, winning the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone, and he is now 12/1 from 18s with BetVictor to win a first major championship in this week's US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

Spokesperson Jack Milner told Bettingpro:

"Matsuyama was flawless around a notoriously difficult course and, after his course record 61 at Firestone, was slashed to 12/1 from 16s with BetVictor for next year's US Masters and 16/1 from 25s for the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Matsuyama is 12/1 from 18s for the US PGA however, Rory McIlroy is hands down our worst result in the book and is the 7/1 market leader bidding for a third course success around Quail Hollow.~
