British Masters betting tips for this week. Read on for our expert tips for the British Masters taking place at Hillside Golf Club in Southport, England.

British Masters

The European golf season gets going this week with the return to home soil with the Betfred British Masters from Hillside Golf Club, Southport.

This year's tournament is hosted by European Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood and despite his extensive local course knowledge and conditions which will suit his game, the pressures from media, sponsors and TV companies have proved too much for tournament hosts previously and although he deserves to be favourite, at odds of as short as 7/1 with some leading bookmakers that looks too skinny to get involved with.

A trio of young English talent is just behind the host with Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Wallace and defending champion Eddie Pepperell the leading contenders to challenge Fleetwood and I don't agree with the layers and I want to take them all on.

All three have been plying their trade in the US over the last couple of months and all rather unsuccessfully,  and despite a warm welcome from the home crowd the immediate change of conditions and the fact that none of them are playing well, suggests to me that they should all be avoided when looking for a likely winner.

Three From The Tee

Jordan Smith @ 28/1 William Hill

The man who I like to win this week is young English golfer JORDAN SMITH who looks very appealing at William Hill’s offer of 28/1.

Smith is in fine form and showed that again last week with a fifth at the China Open, which was his third successive top-15 finish in the last three weeks.

This is a tough week to have some serious bets as there is no course form to go on,  but Smith has won on the European Tour with success in a play-off at the 2017 European Open he is in great form and and he fits the criteria of previous winners of this event and at the odds he looks the value in a tough week.

Victor Dubuisson @ 40/1 William Hill

VICTOR DUBUISSON is one of my favourite golfers on the European Tour and his popularity with me will grow even further is he walks away with the winners cheque on Sunday.

The former Ryder Cup man has had all kinds of personal and injury issues to deal with over the last couple of seasons, but the likeable Frenchman is playing some great golf and a third European title isn't that far away.

In China last week Dubuisson finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place and that encouragingly was his fourth top 20 finish in his last four starts and I like his chances to go close again this week.

Martin Kaymer @ 50/1 bet365
* Odds correct at 11:05 BST on 7/5/2019

MARTIN KAYMER is my final choice this week at a massive 50/1 with bet365.

The German may not be the player that he once was, but he's a two-time major winner and a multiple winner on the European tour and still one of the best front runners in the World.

Kaymer hasn't won in almost five years, but his current form isn't that bad with four top 25 finishes in his six starts this season and making the cut on every tournament played and on Monday morning the 66s might look a rather silly price.
