The Bettingpro team are celebrating this morning after resident golf expert Nigel Seeley bashed the bookmakers by successfully tipping 66/1 shot Chez Reavie to end his 11-year drought at the Travellers Championship.

Reavie had not won a PGA Tour title since making his breakthrough back at the Canadian Open back in 2008, but that did not stop Nigel from putting his faith in the 37-year-old American going into last week’s tournament at TPC River Highlands.

“Reavie is playing some of the best and most consistent golf of his career with the 37 year-old in the middle of a hot streak with four top 20 finishes in his last five starts, which included two majors,” he wrote in his preview for the Travelers Championship.

“Last week he finished third at the US Open with four very nice and consistent rounds and at a tournament where he's gone well before and arriving in the best form of the year, 66/1 looks a very big price.”

Reavie, who was available at 66/1 with William Hill, then did his part of the deal by delivering in Connecticut.

He put himself firmly in contention during the first two days as he followed up an opening-round 65 with a second-round 66, and it was on the third day where he really staked his claim for the crown as he shot a tournament-best 63 to storm six shots clear at the top of the leaderboard.

The American was unable to replicate his first three days as he managed only 69 on Sunday, but that commanding lead he took into the final day proved to be decisive as he finished four shots clear of Zach Sucher and Keegan Bradley, ending his lengthy title drought and handing the Bettingpro team a very tidy winner!

“I went through some injuries and had long years there in the middle [of his two PGA Tour wins],” Reavie said afterwards.

“It was great because it gave me good perseverance and good perspective of life and golf. I enjoy every minute of every week I'm out here now and I don't think I would necessarily be that way if I didn't go through those tough times.

“Those were probably the darkest days. Just the unknown, sitting at home not being able to do anything and your mind wandering. Okay, if it didn't work, if I can't play golf, what am I going to do?”

Reavie was able to make a comeback though and this past weekend his hard work and persistence paid off, not only for him but for us too!
