Brazilian Grand Prix betting tips: Three-in-a-row for Lewis Hamilton

Our man Leigh Copson went two-for-two with his Formula 1 tips a fortnight ago, and he is now looking for another perfect weekend with his best bets for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 2016 season has proved to be a very profitable one for the Bettingpro.com thanks to a fantastic run of winning bets. We have had at least one winning bet on 15 of the 19 races so far this season, and the team were celebrating a nice double at the conclusion of the Mexican Grand Prix a couple of weeks ago. Lewis Hamilton’s race win delivered an Even money success and Daniel Ricciardo ensured it would be a perfect weekend as his third-placed finish wrapped up an 11/10 winner, so what am I tipping for the penultimate race of the season, the Brazilian Grand Prix?

Allow me to set the scene first. Nico Rosberg boasts a 19-point lead going into the Brazilian Grand Prix and that means he will be crowned world champion for the first time in his career if he wins the race on Sunday, while title rival and team-mate Hamilton knows nothing less than two wins will do if he is to have any chance of retaining his world title. The Briton is not giving up just yet.

“In terms of the championship, it's an unusual scenario to be in,” Hamilton admitted. “Fighting for something and not knowing for sure that what you do will guarantee you're able to make it – one outcome would be painful and the other would be a great achievement. Regardless, I'm going to keep pushing. Since the beginning of my Formula 1 career I've seen that everything can change even at the very last moment, so you have to fight to the bitter end.”

But will his fight be in vain? Hamilton’s track record in Interlagos hardly makes for great reading – especially when he knows he has to win. The Mercedes star has finished second in each of the last two seasons, but those finishes in 2014 and 2015 have been the only times he has placed on the podium in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Then there is the fact that second place just will not do on Sunday – he has to win this race or he will almost certainly surrender his crown to Rosberg.

So can Hamilton finally notch the first Brazilian Grand Prix win of his career at a time where he needs it the most? The bookmakers certainly believe he can, with William Hill making him the odds-on favourite at 10/11. I share the firm’s confidence in Hamilton too. His reign over Formula 1 is likely to come to an end this season but it must be said that fortune has not been on his side and that has played a big reason.

Hamilton is still arguably the most talented driver in the sport and on his day he is almost unstoppable. Rosberg, meanwhile, does not really have to stop him either. As I said a couple of weeks ago, the championship leader does not have to take any unnecessary risks because he knows the championship can still be his even if Hamilton wins the final two races. Rosberg does not have to go all out but Hamilton does, so that is why I believe the Briton will be victorious in Interlagos.

And for the second race running I am going with Daniel Ricciardo to place on the podium, which can be backed at Even money with Ladbrokes. The talented Australian has been one of the most consistent performers in Formula 1 over the past few months and after his third-placed finish in Mexico he has now record seven podium finishes in his last nine races. That sort of form cannot be overlooked and Ricciardo can once again show that – with the right car – he could be a future world champion.
