City can claim an unprecedented domestic treble by beating Watford in the FA Cup final, two decades on from United’s famous treble win in 1999, but the Etihad Stadium side have a better win rate than their bitter rivals, have scored more goals and conceded less than Fergie’s famous team.

Pep Guardiola’s men have won 50 of their 59 games played so far, giving them an 85% win rate going into their final match of the season, whereas Fergie’s 1999 team only won 36 of their 62 games to give them a 58% win rate.

City have also outscored the team of 20 years ago – notching 157 goals so far to United’s 128 – while also conceding just 43 compared to the 60 the Old Trafford outfit let in.

While Manchester United lost less games than City (four compared to six thus far), the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League winners of that year drew a total of 22 games compared to the three that City have drawn.

“This Manchester City team are arguably one of the best English sides we have ever seen,”‘s head of sport Steve Munns told “20 years on from Manchester United’s treble-winning feat, they could bag a treble of their own this weekend.

“It’s interesting to note how far ahead this City team are compared to the United team of 1999. Despite not reaching a European final, they have won more matches than Fergie’s treble winners, as well as amassing more points in the league and scoring more goals.

“If City can see past Watford this weekend to clinch the treble, they will go down as one of the best English sides of all time.”
