La Liga predictions for the games on Tuesday, April 17. Can Deportivo claw closer to safety, and can Villarreal put their awful run behind them? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips for Tuesday.

Deportivo La Coruna vs Sevilla (18:30)

Deportivo have been threatening to upset the order at the bottom of the table as they continue to gather momentum from their recent results. Two 3-2 wins over Malaga and Athletic Bilbao has seen the home side pick up six points and close the gap between themselves and Levante to just five points, and they will be brimming with confidence as they go into yet another must-win battle. Sevilla by contrast have been awful lately. In their last five they have picked up just two points which has seen them into seventh-place and out of the Europa League spots. While position in the table would suggest Sevilla should win this one, it is the home side that is actually in the better form right now.

Celta Vigo vs Barcelona (20:00)

Celta Vigo’s hopes of breaking into the Europa League places for next season have taken a number of body blows in recent weeks as their form has not been that of a team deserving of European competition. A 1-0 loss to Leganes in their last game was hardly the most inspiring of performances or results, and the gap between themselves and sixth-placed Villarreal is now five points. Barcelona on the other hand are cruising to a La Liga title. 25 wins from 32 games and no defeats is a superb record, while they have notched 81 goals and conceded just 17 times all season. The two have played each other three times this season already, with 11 goals being scored. With Barcelona favourites to win, perhaps backing Lionel Messi to score anytime is a better bet, with the forward in fine form this year.

Villarreal vs Leganes (20:30)

Villarreal are another of the top sides that are struggling at the moment as they look to cling onto a Europa League spot for next year. 48 points from 32 games is a modest total, and their own poor form should have seen them lose their European spot only for Sevilla to capitulate at the same time. With two losses and a draw in their last three, the home side desperately need to get back to winning ways. Leganes are fresh off the back of a very impressive win over Celta Vigo in their last game and they are looking to continue their march up the table. With Villarreal back at home and in need of a win though, I am backing them to do the job.
