Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth Betting Tips Explained

Tottenham Hotspur may have given themselves too much of a mountain to climb when it comes to winning the Premier League title this season, but second place is theirs for the taking thanks to a fantastic run of form over the past few months and they will be determined to exorcise the demons of last season’s late collapse when they threw away the runners-up spot to finish behind bitter rivals Arsenal yet again.

They appear poised to finally end that long run of finishing behind the Gunners this season – there is a 14-point gap between the two teams – but the big question is can they at least ensure they are the ‘best of the rest’ behind a Chelsea side that have looked every bit a champion over the past four of five months? Spurs’ recent form suggests they should achieve that.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have won seven of their last eight league games – losing just one of their last 16 – and they boast a five-point lead over a third-placed Liverpool side that remain somewhat unpredictable. The Reds were recently held to a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth, and it is the Cherries that are providing Spurs’ opposition in this lunchtime kick-off on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side have recorded some fine results over the past few weeks – drawing at Manchester United, Liverpool and Swansea City while beating West Ham United and Swansea City at home – and while they do go into this match on the back of a defeat there is certainly no shame in losing to league-leaders Chelsea. They would love to bounce back from that by taking something from Saturday’s trip to White Hart Lane, but I do not see them boosting their battle against the drop.

Quite simple, Spurs have been outstanding at home this season and boast the best record in the top flight, going unbeaten at White Hart Lane in the Premier League. Pochettino’s boys have won 14 of their 16 outings, drawing the other two, and they have conceded a league-best eight goals on home turf while rattling in a second-best 39 goals. The goals are flowing in at one end and not flying in at the other, so you have to like Tottenham’s chances of winning and keeping a clean sheet here.

And while Harry Kane is back from injury, it is one of his team-mates who continues to get my attention in the goal-scoring market. Heung-Min Son handed me a winner a week ago when he found the back of the net in Spurs’ 4-0 rout of Watford, and the South Korean striker has now scored a very impressive seven goals in his last five appearances for Tottenham. That is a run of form I simply cannot ignore and I fancy Son to keep his streak going with a goal against Bournemouth.
