Europa League predictions for the games on Thursday, March 15. Can Arsenal finish the job against AC Milan, and can RB Salzburg claim a massive win and knock Borussia Dortmund out on Thursday? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips for the games on Thursday.

Lokomotiv Moscow vs Atletico Madrid

Lokomotiv Moscow are currently leading the way in the Russian Premier League, but they will be desperate to stamp their authority in Europe as Russian sides have struggled in the Europa League. In the league, they have won 15 of their 22 games, losing just three times, which has seen them onto 49 points, meaning they are eight clear of Spartak Moscow in second. Atletico Madrid hold a commanding 3-0 lead over their opponents going into the return-leg of the tie. Atleti are currently desperately trying to cut the gap between themselves and Barcelona in La Liga, but they will likely fail to do this with the league leaders so good this season. Therefore, it is likely that they will have switch their focus to the Europa League as they look to pick up some silverware this season. Atleti are likely to be happy to sit deeper and defend what they have, but their ability to turn defence into attack is superb, and Antoine Griezmann has been in fine scoring form of late.

Arsenal vs AC Milan

The glamour tie of the round was kind to Arsenal as they were able to gain some much-needed momentum with a very strong 2-0 win in Italy. Arsene Wenger’s men look like they will only be able to clinch a Champions League place via the Europa League, unless there is a massive capitulation from the sides above them, meaning that their focus should be almost entirely on the competition. The Gunners looked very good in the first-leg, and if they can put in a performance in which they remain solid at the back, then they will surely oust their opponents. AC Milan have been in good form of late as they have won their last four games in a row. Just six points currently separates the side from the Champions League places meaning they may yet have another route into the competition, while Arsenal almost certainly have all of their eggs in one basket now. Of ourse, this does not mean Milan will be looking to just enjoy their trip as they will be all too aware that it is not particularly difficult to cause chaos amongst Arsenal’s backline. Saying that, the Gunners can be lethal going forward, perhaps meaning there are goals in this one.

Neither side has had to travel far in the grand scheme of things, but this does not mean that this game is any less important to the landscape of Europe this year. RB Leipzig have been struggling this season as their Bundesliga campaign has failed to ignite, with the side a massive 26 points short of Bayern Munich at the top. With the Champions League places incredibly hotly contested, Leipzig may have to turn their attention to the Europa League if they are to secure a place in Europe’s premier competition for next season. Borussia Dortmund have been far better in recent weeks following a real slump in form, but they will have to overcome a rather difficult task if they are to make it into the next round of the competition. Michy Batshuayi has been something of a revelation since joining on loan from Chelsea, scoring seven goals at an average of one strike every 103 minutes, meaning he will need to be on top of his game if he is to help his side past their hosts.

Athletic Bilbao vs Marseille

This is one of the games that sees a home side trying to repair the damage they suffered following their away leg in the tie. Athletic Bilbao are currently 3-1 down in the tie and they desperately need to hit the ground running, or the match will get away from them. Bilbao are currently nine points short of the Europa League places in La Liga and, with just 29 goals after 28 games, they are hardly in prolific scoring form this season. Marseille on the other hand are in fine form this season and they are looking to take a Champions League place outright following an impressive league campaign. After 29 games they have won 17 matches and only lost four, while they have scored 59 goals, meaning they are hitting the net twice every game on average. The French side look like a real force both in their domestic league and abroad this year, and Athletic Bilbao will struggle to win the second-leg, let alone the entire tie.
