Swansea City v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips Explained

Tottenham Hotspur’s route to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup has proved to be a marathon trek. It started well enough when they cruised to a 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in round three, but in the last two rounds they have been forced to survive a couple of scares before finally seeing off Newport County and Rochdale in home replays, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will be desperately hoping his side do not add another replay to their schedule when they visit Swansea City this weekend.

The Swans are the first top-flight side that Tottenham have faced in this season’s competition, and they too have been needing replays to get the job done. All three of the cup ties they have played so far – against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday – have required another 90 minutes to determine a winner, and while the extra games have not been ideal they have given Swansea an opportunity to build up a solid run of form that has seen them lose only one of their last 13 games in all competitions.

Carlos Carvalhal has certainly got his team heading in the right direction at this time, but can he direct them towards a semi-final appearance at Wembley Stadium? Swansea have pulled off shock home wins over both Liverpool and Arsenal in recent months to show they should not be overlooked, but I have to back Tottenham to be the side that advances here, even without star man Harry Kane who is facing a spell on the sidelines after being injured at Bournemouth last time out.

Spurs have lost just two of their last 24 games in all competitions – against Premier League leaders Manchester City and Italian champions Juventus – and while there have been a few too many draws in there for Pochettino’s liking, they have now won four of their last five fixtures to stay on course for a top-four finish in the Premier League and an appearance in this season’s FA Cup Final.

They proved at the weekend they can cope without Harry Kane, scoring three second-half goals in a 4-1 rout of Bournemouth, and I am backing them to cope in his absence once again here. Spurs ran out 2-0 winners when they visited the Liberty Stadium in the league at the start of January, and while the Swans have improved since then and produced an excellent run of home form that has seen them win their last seven in all competitions, that run will have to come to an end at some point. Spurs’ track record suggests they will be the team to halt that streak – they are unbeaten in their last 15 meetings with Swansea, winning 12 of them, and they have been victorious in five of their last six visits to South Wales.

And if anybody is going to play a scoring role in Tottenham win, it is probably Heung-Min Son. The South Korean is on course for his best ever goal-scoring season in the Premier League and he goes into this cup tie in blistering form. Son has scored seven goals in his last four appearances for Tottenham, netting three braces in this time, and he has delivered winning bets for us on several occasions this season. I am backing the Spurs striker to deliver another here by scoring anytime.
