Sevilla vs Barcelona betting tips

This weekend sees a massive game taking place as Sevilla take on Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. The two sides have had to manoeuvre tricky fixtures to get to this point, and they will now throw everything at one another to lift the trophy.

Sevilla’s route to the final has seen them overcome a few tough games in order to contest the last showpiece event. Sevilla scored seven goals across two games against Cartagena before they beat Cadiz 4-1 on aggregate. An impressive 5-2 win over Atletico Madrid followed this before they defeated Leganes 3-1 to make it to the final. While they have been impressive in the Copa del Rey, they have been incredibly poor over their last few games. Their last win came against Athletic Bilbao on March 3rd, with the side losing three games and drawing three as they were eliminated from the Champions League, while they have also fallen out of the Europa League places. With Villarreal now three points ahead of them in sixth, Sevilla’s hopes of finishing in the European places are diminishing, but some form of silverware would definitely sate the fans.

However, they have not beaten Barcelona this season, drawing 2-2 in a game they really should have won, while their previous encounter ended in a 2-1 defeat. Indeed, in their last six matches, Sevilla have not won once, with a single draw and five wins for the league leaders. The signs point to the fact that this one could be a step too far for Sevilla, which means that while odds of 6/1 offer a good potential pay-out, they are not likely to come in.

For Barcelona, this should constitute their second trophy of the season. They are currently walking to the league title after sweeping all those before them aside. After 33 league games they have won 25, drawn eight and they are yet to lose. 83 goals scored is very impressive, while they have only conceded 19 times. The 83 points they have accumulated means they are 12 clear of Atletico Madrid in second, and they cruising to the title. Away from Spain, they were consigned to an incredibly disappointing end to their Champions League campaign as Roma defeated them. A 4-1 triumph in Spain was followed by a 3-0 loss in Rome as they failed to hold onto a commanding lead. Their attention has since switched to completing an impressive double, with the side by far and away the best team in Spain this season.

In recent weeks they have continued their impressive run, losing just once in their last five, winning three and drawing the other. Across the season, they have played 53 games, and they have only lost four times, which shows how strong they have been. As previously mentioned, Barcelona have not lost to Sevilla in their last six, while they have scored two or more goals in every single one of those games. Lionel Messi has hit 35 goals this season and has 14 assists meaning that it is likely the game will see goals. Interestingly, Barcelona have not kept a clean sheet since they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 on March 18th. In that time, they have conceded 10 goals in six games. With Barca in such good scoring form but creaking in defence, backing Barca to win and both teams to score seems like an intelligent bet.
