Italy football predictions, betting tips & match previews - Best bets for Saturday's games in Serie A

There’s another round of intriguing fixtures set to take place in Italy this weekend and we bring you our best bets for Saturday's Serie A matches.

Udinese v Roma (14:00 GMT)

Games involving Roma have generally been among the most high-scoring in the Italian league this season, but we're not expecting that this weekend as they take on an Udinese side sitting firmly in midtable at the moment. La Maggica may have fallen off the pace in the title race, but they still sit in fourth place in the table and after back-to-back wins over Benevento and Hellas Verona, look in a strong position to secure a spot in next year's Champions League.

Despite being away from home, we expect Roma to pick up the three points here, but it's not likely to be another goalfest for Giallorossi. Under 3.5 goals have been scored in Udine's last seven matches and they'll look to adopt a cautious approach here to frustrate the visitors, although that's likely to be ultimately fruitless as the quality of players like Edin Dzeko and Stephen el Shaarawy will grind out another away win for the men from the capital side here.

Chievo Verona v Cagliari (17:00 GMT)

Chievo Verona are far from safe in the battle to beat the drop to Serie B this season. As things stand, Chievo sit just two places and five points clear of the relegation zone, plus only six points clear of their city rivals Hellas, with bottom club Benevento now looking very much adrift with just six points to their name so far this year. As such, every game is of vital importance but we're anticipating another tough evening for them on Saturday as they host Cagliari.

Diego Lopez's side may only be two places and three points clear of Chievo in the table at the moment, but they've picked up five points from their last three games, turning in much improved performances to earn draws against Crotone and Sassuolo plus a vital home win over SPAL. Rolando Maran's men on the other hand have lost four games on the spin and look low on confidence at the moment, so we can see another defeat coming their way on Saturday.

Genoa v Inter (19:45 GMT)

Genoa are looking to build some momentum for a strong finish to the campaign and although they face a tough test in the shape of Champions League chasing Inter Milan this weekend, they come into the match in good form following back-to-back wins in their last two games over Lazio and Chievo Verona. The Nerazzuri meanwhile ran out 2-1 winners over Bologna in their last outing but prior to that they had drawn four consecutive matches.

This inability to turn tight drawn matches into victories is what has held back Luciano Spalleti's men in their race for the title and they're now in third position, having drawn nine games so far this season, the second highest amount in the division after Torino. This could be a tough game for them with confidence now higher in the Genoa camp following those back-to-back wins and we can see another frustrating draw for the Milanese club here.
