The 2017-18 Serie A season has reached its 22nd round of matches on the weekend of January 27-28 and we have picked out the best bet available on each of Sunday’s eight games.

SPAL vs Inter Milan – Away win and over 1.5 goals in the match @ Evens with Betfair Sportsbook (11:30 GMT kick-off)

Inter really have gone off the boil, winless in their last eight matches with six of them drawn, but they have had some difficult fixtures and this looks like a good opportunity to get back on the victory trail.

SPAL are in danger of making an immediate return to Serie B and are conceding far too many goals at home, so excluding 1-0 as a winning option for our bet here looks prudent and allows us to double our stake.

Crotone vs Cagliari – Away win @ 23/10 with Betfair Sportsbook (14:00 GMT)

Both of these teams will be hoping Inter have indeed won the lunchtime kick-off because they are immediately above SPAL in the table, and it’s Cagliari whom we think can ease their relegation fears.

Although Crotone had an excellent victory at Verona last week, their goalscoring record at home is poor and Cagliari should be confident after winning their most recent away match at Atalanta.

Fiorentina vs Verona – Home win and under 3.5 goals @ 23/20 with betway (14:00 GMT)

This is proving to be a disappointing campaign for mid-table Fiorentina but they can end a four-match run without a win by getting the better of relegation-threatened Verona.

The Viola are a very short price, but we can boost the odds by factoring in Verona to lose no worse than 3-0 having only conceded twice when losing their last away match to leaders Napoli.

Genoa vs Udinese – Draw @ 9/4 with Betfair Sportsbook (14:00 GMT)

Udinese have failed to carry their excellent end to 2017 into the new year, yet to win in three attempts during January, but they look capable of claiming a point in Genoa.

Massimo Oddo’s side have still only lost one of their last eight Serie A matches and their midweek defeat at Lazio was their first on the road in this competition since mid-October, while Genoa have scored exactly one goal in each of their latest five home games which may not be enough for victory this time.

Napoli -2 on the handicap at home to Bologna @ 9/5 with Betfair Sportsbook (14:00 GMT)

This looks an ideal fixture for Napoli as they strive for a victory that would keep them top of the table whatever Juventus have achieved against Chievo on Saturday.

Maurizio Sarri’s free-scoring side simply look over-priced at 9/5 to win by three or more goals with some firms offering just 11/8 - and we hope those odds are still available by the time you come to read this!

Torino vs Benevento – Home win and under 3.5 goals in the match @ 11/8 with Ladbrokes (14:00 GMT)

After a dreadful start to life in Serie A, losing their first 14 games, Benevento have improved and even won back-to-back recently, but all of their seven points have been collected at home.

There is little reason to think things will change against Torino, but equally we are happy to bet that this will not be too heavy a defeat for the team still tailed off at the bottom of the table.

AC Milan vs Lazio – Draw @ 12/5 with Betfair Sportsbook (17:00 GMT)

Gennaro Gattuso is gradually rebuilding confidence at AC Milan with a more promising start to 2018, but even though they are favourites to beat Lazio we think the in-form visitors can capture a point.

Lazio have scored 13 goals in winning their last three games to show they are well and truly over their November wobble and avoiding defeat would mean returning to the San Siro in good heart for Wednesday’s Coppa Italia date.

Sampdoria/Draw double chance away to Roma @ 2/1 with Unibet (19:45 GMT)

Only four days after their re-arranged first meeting of the season, these teams do battle again and Sampdoria will be doubly determined on their trip to the capital after conceding a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

We backed the team from Genoa to get a positive result on Wednesday and will do so again for the same reasons, notably that Roma are not scoring enough goals – and Edin Dzeko, who notched the leveller, may have gone to Chelsea by the time this match is played.
