The 2017-18 Serie A season has reached its 18th round of matches on December 22-23 and we have picked out the best bet available on each of Saturday’s eight games.

Lazio to win and under 3.5 goals in the match at home to Crotone @ 23/20 with Ladbrokes (11:30 GMT kick-off)

Lazio have most definitely gone off the boil since autumn turned to winter but this game provides a great opportunity to record only a second victory in their last six matches against top-flight opposition.

Crotone ended a dismal run of five straight defeats by winning narrowly at home to Chievo last weekend, but they have collected only four points from a possible 24 on the road this season and backing a routine Lazio triumph looks the best policy here.

Benevento/Draw double chance away to Genoa @ 21/10 with Betfair Sportsbook (14:00 GMT)

Although Benevento let us down when we sided with them to claim a first Serie A success against SPAL last weekend, they do appear to be improving and could represent a touch of value to, at the very least, double their seasonal points tally at Genoa.

The top flight’s whipping boys were briefly in front against SPAL and were anything but outplayed as they went down 2-1 and with Genoa still seeking a first home win in the league, this game offers encouragement for Benevento.

Napoli to win and over 3.5 goals in the match at home to Sampdoria @ 31/20 with Ladbrokes (14:00 GMT)

Napoli are back on top of the Serie A table after last week’s 3-1 win away to Torino and more of the same could be in store now that Maurizio Sarri’s side have rediscovered their goalscoring touch.

The Partenopei had suffered a blip starting with their home defeat to Juventus but their latest result suggests they are back on track and more goals should come their way against out-of-sorts Sampdoria, who are winless in four but capable of netting a consolation here.

Sassuolo/Draw double chance at home to Inter Milan @ 6/5 with SportingBet (14:00 GMT)

Inter were knocked off the top of the table when they surprisingly went down 3-1 at home to Udinese in their first defeat of the season, and there had been signs immediately before that they may be about to endure a lean patch.

Sassuolo have strung together a couple of wins, taking their tally to four in six in all competitions, and with their confidence up they make considerable appeal at odds-against to at least hold Luciano Spalletti’s side.

SPAL vs Torino – Away win @ 11/10 with MarathonBet (14:00 GMT)

SPAL only ended a six-match winless streak by beating rock-bottom Benevento, making quite hard work of it, and on that basis are difficult to fancy for this game.

Torino suffered their first defeat in eight when they lost to leaders Napoli, but that was no disgrace and they are expected to make their greater quality count.

Udinese vs Verona – Home win and both teams to score @ 5/2 with William Hill (14:00 GMT)

This is a match that screams ‘goals’ because Udinese both score and concede plenty at home, while backers of the ‘overs’ would have collected on each of Verona’s last three games.

Both will be oozing confidence after excellent victories over the Milan clubs last weekend, but Udinese’s home advantage here should turn it in their favour.

Gennaro Gattuso suffered his first big disappointment as Milan manager when his side were beaten 3-0 at Verona last week and this match is no easier against in-form Atalanta.

Gattuso will obviously demand a reaction from his players, but Milan look opposable here at around 6/4 and the stalemate appeals most between two teams who are level on points and side-by-side in the table.

Italy saves the best until last in its pre-Christmas programme and in a clash of two title contenders, champions Juventus are expected to come out on top.

Admittedly Massimiliano Allegri’s side were held at home to another Scudetto hopeful, Inter Milan, in their last home game, but they have now kept six consecutive clean sheets and that solidity gives them the platform to double their margin in the table over fourth-placed Roma from the current three-point gap.
