Serie A predictions for Sunday, May 19. Can Atalanta secure a top-four finish with a surprise victory at champions Juventus, and who will come out on top when second-place Napoli host third-place Inter Milan in Sunday’s big clash? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips.

AC Milan v Frosinone (Sunday 17:00 BST)

It is ‘win or bust’ for AC Milan in their quest for a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League. They go into the penultimate round of fixtures three points behind fourth-place Atalanta and their inferior goal difference means they simply have to pick up more points than their rivals over the next two weekends. First up for Milan in this massive double-header is a home match against second-from-bottom Frosinone on Sunday evening. The visitors already know that they will be playing second-tier football next season but they will want to play the role of spoiler and at least match the surprise draw they managed when they hosted Milan earlier this season. However, I just do not see that happening. The hosts go into this game on the back of a couple of wins here and they should make it three-in-a-row in an attempt to keep the pressure on Atalanta. It will be a low-scoring win though – Milan have scored just 50 goals over the course of their league campaign and only one club in the top 10 has scored less!

Juventus v Atalanta (Sunday 19:30 BST)

Atalanta go into the penultimate round of fixtures on the back of a controversial Coppa Italia Final defeat to Lazio in midweek. Both the match official and the VAR official failed to award Atalanta a penalty for a blatant handball with the score at 0-0, and that left coach Gian Piero Gasperini raging after he saw two late goals sink his side. But as angry as Gasperini is he cannot afford to dwell on that result because Atalanta still have an important task at hand – securing a top-four finish that would ensure Champions League football for next season. They currently occupy fourth spot in the table but with AC Milan and Roma just three points behind they know that they cannot afford a poor finish to their league campaign. Their vastly superior goal difference means one more win should do it, but can we really expect them to get it when they visit champions Juventus on Sunday? With just one win in their last five games Juventus have clearly gone into ‘holiday mode’ during the final few weeks of the season and that does make it tempting to back an Atalanta side that have won four in a row in the league to extend their unbeaten streak in Serie A to 11 games. This good run includes a 2-1 success at second-place Napoli last month. However, I must urge some caution here because Juventus are yet to lose at home in the league this season, so while I am going to back Atalanta for the win they need, I am doing it with Draw No Bet for some insurance. Juventus have been involved in a couple of stalemates recently, including a home draw with Torino, and these two teams did play out a 2-2 draw when they met on Boxing Day.

Napoli v Inter Milan (Sunday 19:30 BST)

Napoli wrapped up second place in the table with a run of three straight wins so there is very little left for them to play for heading into Sunday. The same cannot be said for Inter Milan though. They are third in the table heading into the penultimate round of fixtures, but they are just three points clear of fourth-place Atalanta and four clear of AC Milan so they have some work to do as they try to secure Champions League football for the 2019/20 campaign. So can Inter lock up a top-four finish with a win on Sunday? I doubt it. Napoli have been very strong at home during the campaign, winning 12 of their 18 games at the Stadio San Paolo and losing just twice, while Inter’s up-and-down away form has harmed their top-four push and is one of the reasons they did not make much of an impact in Europe this season. Napoli may not have much to play for here, but they will want to wrap up their home schedule with one more win and they will be keen to avenge the 1-0 defeat they suffered in Milan earlier this season. I fancy them to do just that.
