Lazio v Udinese – Home win and under 3.5 goals in the match @ 29/20 with Ladbrokes (17:30 GMT kick-off)

Besides challenging for the Coppa Italia, a return to the Champions League group stage for the first time in 11 seasons has to be Lazio’s ambition for 2018 and they can boost their chances of reaching that target by beating Udinese.

Currently third in the table, the club from the capital have been helped by UEFA putting four Italian clubs straight into the Champions League round-robin phase next term and after getting over their wobble in form straight after the November international break, Lazio are on course to get there.

Simone Inzaghi’s side are scoring goals for fun, 22 in their last seven league and cup matches, but may find it more difficult against an Udinese team who are on a good run themselves with a narrow Coppa Italia defeat away to Serie A leaders Napoli their only loss in nine matches.

Lazio are still expected to be too strong for their visitors, however, although this may be a more workmanlike success than those the Biancocelesti have been enjoying of late.

Sampdoria/Draw double chance at home to Roma @ 19/20 with Unibet (19:45 GMT)

Sampdoria can be well satisfied with their season so far, sitting sixth in the Serie A table, and the basis for that has been their very strong home form with eight league wins out of 10 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris plus two more in the Coppa Italia.

Now they host a Roma team who are not only on a run of five matches without a win, which means they are up against it to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s Champions League, but could also be losing Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri to Chelsea.

In fairness, Dzeko’s goalscoing rate has really dropped off since the start of October so he may not be that big a miss, but the Giallorossi are struggling in that area generally. They have netted only six goals in their last eight matches and that could a problem on this trip to Genoa.

Their hosts, in contrast, are having no trouble finding the net just now and that should enable them to claim at least a point here – indeed, if you fancy a braver bet then we would not put you off backing Sampdoria to win the match at 3/1.
