Can Genoa halt Juventus' march to the title, will Atalanta continue their impressive form, and who will take the spoil when AC Milan and Inter Milan meet? Read on for our best bets for the games in Serie A this weekend.

Genoa vs Juventus (Sunday, 11:30 GMT)

Genoa may be edging closer to safety this season, but this do not mean that they are out of danger yet, with the bottom-three not that far behind them. As things stand, Genoa sit in 13th with 30 points from their 27 games, meaning they are nine clear of Bologna in 18th. Their nine point lead is a good one, but this can disappear very quickly with a run of losses, meaning they need to continue to pick up points. Speaking of their need to accrue points, they were denied this in their last game by a side that were also on 30 points, with Parma winning the game in the 78th minute via Juraj Kucka, which saw all of Genoa’s hard-work count for nothing. Now, they face a huge test, with the visit of reigning-champions Juventus to come. Juve just do not seem to stop, with the side constantly rolling on and picking up wins and points as those around them struggle. 24 victories, three draws and no defeats means they have picked up 75 points, and they are a massive 18 clear of Napoli in second after what has been yet another near-flawless season. Their last league game saw the side easily brush Udinese aside in a 4-1 win as many of their stars were rested due to the must-win clash with Atletico Madrid in the week, something that paid off massively, with a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick helping the Italian side to knock their Spanish opponents out 3-2 on aggregate. Now, attention switches back to league duty, with Ronaldo and co wanting to wrap up the season as soon as possible so they can focus on Europe.

Five homes wins in 14 is an impressive record when considering Genoa have only lost three times, and it is clear they have leant heavily on this form in front of their own fans, with only two wins on the road this campaign. Recently, they have managed to lose just one of their last seven games, although only two wins have come in this time as they have struggled to turn solid performances into major points. Juventus on the other hand have been awesome wherever they are playing, winning 12 apiece at home and on the road, while they have drawn twice at home and once on the road, showing that they have technically been better away from home as far as results go. While Genoa have been better at home this season, we think they will be out of their depth in this one, as every other side in the league have been against Juve. Their last four away games have ended in wins, and while we would be tempted to back Juve with a bigger handicap, we are tentative as Genoa tend to keep things tight, and Juve have only won their last two on the road by a single goal. With this in mind, we recommend utilising the Asian Handicap market with a -1 goal handicap for the away side.

Atalanta vs Chievo (Sunday, 14:00 GMT)

What a season it is proving to be for Atalanta with the side continuing to battle in the upper-half of the table. 13 wins in 27 is an impressive tally, while they have lost nine times and drawn five games, but where they have been most impressive is in their scoring, where they have hit 56 goals, just three less than Juventus this season. It should be kept in mind though that they have hardly been watertight at the back, conceding 38 times in 27 games. Their last game saw the side beat Sampdoria 2-1 in a match in which they had chances to score more goals but didn’t, although the points are the most important thing, especially when on the road. Visitors Chievo arrive in real trouble as they have won just once all season and, with 16 losses, the 10 points they have picked up means they are 12 points short of Empoli in 17th after a torrid season thus far. Their last match saw the side go into half-time with some real hope at 1-1 against AC Milan, but they let themselves down again as the visitors left with all three points as Chievo could only muster one shot on target all game. Clearly, the side are in real trouble, and unless they can start to win their games, they will be relegated.

In this one, we are backing an Atalanta win against a Chievo side that are yet to win on the road. The home side have six wins in 13 at home along with three draws and four defeats, while they have won their last two matches in a row, and they have only tasted defeat once in their last six games. Chievo meanwhile have lost both of their last two games, while their last two away trips have also ended in defeat. As far as goals are concerned, we think this one could see the net bulging on a number of occassions. As previously mentioned, Atalanta have netted 56 goals and conceded 38 times, while Chievo have scored 20 times and conceded 53 goals this year. The goals for and against for the two sides means that the goals could flow, and we are backing there to be more than 2.5 goals in the game.

AC Milan vs Inter Milan (Sunday, 19:30 GMT)

What a game we have to end Serie A for another week on Sunday as AC Milan host arch-rivals Inter Milan in a huge game. AC Milan have enjoyed their season of late, jumping above their opponents and into third following a very impressive run. 14 wins, nine draws and four defeats is a very impressive record, and they are eating up the ground on second-placed Napoli, which was further emphasised by their 2-1 away win over Chievo in their last match. Inter Milan on the other hand have stuttered somewhat, with the improvement of their rivals something that will irk them massively. 15 wins, nine draws and seven defeats has seen them onto 50 points, meaning they are just one behind their next opponents, with a 2-0 win over SPAL in their last league game helping the side come into this one in good league form. This game will be very hotly-contested, with big tackles and passion on show, and the added bonus of the winner holding third-place in the league makes this one even more important.

Form wise, AC have been fantastic at home this year, winning nine, drawing three and losing twice, with the side unbeaten in their last 10 games, winning their last five, and remaining unbeaten in their last five home matches. Inter meanwhile have not been so consistent, winning three of their last seven, losing three and drawing once. Their form on the road has not been perfect either, winning six, drawing three and losing five times as they have floundered somewhat of late. A derby game is often difficult to call as emotion can dictate how a player performs, rather than their recent form. However, with home advantage, which has seen AC star, we think they will have the edge over Inter. Also, Inter will have to contend with the second-leg of their Europa League last-16 clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday, meaning tired legs and minds could become a real factor later in the game.
