Scottish Premiership predictions for the weekend of September 29-30. Can Hearts recover from dropping their first points of the season to ensure they remain five points clear at the top of the table? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips.

Celtic vs Aberdeen (Saturday 15:00 BST)

Who would have had this down as a mid-table battle, even at this early stage of the season? But that is exactly what it is, with Celtic and Aberdeen sixth and seventh respectively in the standings after six rounds of matches as Hearts have raced clear at the top.

It’s Celtic’s away form that has been letting them down because they have a 100% record on their own pitch in the Premiership and although Aberdeen are unbeaten on their travels, the champions are expected to win with something to spare.

Hamilton vs Dundee (Saturday 15:00 BST)

The pressure is building on Dundee manager Neil McCann and there have been calls for him to be sacked this week with his team still without a point six league games into the season.

It’s difficult to make a case for the Dark Blues because their results have been so poor recently and Hamilton are hard to oppose after their 3-0 win at home to St Mirren last week.

Hearts vs St Johnstone (Saturday 15:00 BST)

Hearts were denied victory in the league for the first time this season when held 0-0 at home by Livingston, but they bounced back to winning ways against Motherwell in the League Cup and are expected to beat St Johnstone.

Craig Levein’s side have conceded only two goals in their six Premiership matches and St Johnstone do not look likely to put much of a dent in that impressive defensive record.

Kilmarnock vs Motherwell (Saturday 15:00 BST)

Killie will be on a high after their come-from-behind success against Kilmarnock last weekend and any failure to follow up at home to Motherwell would have to go down as a major disappointment.

Motherwell have now lost three on the bounce after exiting the League Cup this week and make the trip to Rugby Park in the bottom three of the table.

St Mirren vs Hibernian (Saturday 15:00 BST)

Although they are currently being overshadowed by their city rivals Hearts, the job Neil Lennon is doing at Hibernian should not be overlooked because they are riding high again – level on points with Rangers and ahead of Celtic and Aberdeen.

St Mirren’s new manager Oran Kearney was quickly brought down to earth after his opening draw with Celtic when his team were drubbed 3-0 by Hamilton last week and they may still be seeking their first goal under his leadership following this game.
