Championship Saturday 3pm Predictions
Brentford v Queens Park Rangers predictions & betting tips
The 2016/17 season has been a hugely disappointing one for Queens Park Rangers, but on Saturday they will have an opportunity to ensure they will at least be playing Championship football next season. The Hoops are six points clear of the bottom three with only three rounds of games remaining and that means their second-tier status will be preserved if they beat Brentford. However, I do not see that happening. QPR have been dreadful on their travels this season and they are coming up against a Brentford side in good form having losing just one of their last six games, winning four of them. The Bees should claim all three points here.
Burton Albion v Leeds United predictions & betting tips
Leeds United’s promotion push has been derailed by a poor run of results at the worst time possible. Beaten 1-0 by Wolves last weekend, the South Yorkshire club have now taken just four points from their last five games and that has left them outside of the promotion play-offs heading into this latest round of games. Garry Monk’s side desperately need a win here and I am backing them to bounce back by beating a Burton Albion team that has been dropping points at home in recent months.
Nottingham Forest v Reading predictions & betting tips
The arrival of Mark Warburton as manager has not done much to boost Nottingham Forest’s fight to stay in the Championship. Forest have managed just two wins since the start of February and three defeats in their last four games have left them just one point clear of the relegation zone with three games to go. A negative result this weekend could see them slide into the bottom three and I am predicting defeat for them against a Reading team that will secure a play-off place with a win and could still pip Newcastle United to second place.
Sheffield Wednesday v Derby County predictions & betting tips
Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on a play-off place thanks to a fine run of form during the month of April. They ended a sequence of back-to-back defeats with a draw in the South Yorkshire derby at Barnsley and then built on that point by reeling off four straight wins – a sequence that includes a win over title contenders Newcastle United. The Owls will look to make it five on the bounce here and they should do it against a Derby County side that have failed to win either of their last two games and have struggled for wins on their travels recently.
Wigan Athletic v Cardiff City predictions & betting tips
If Wigan Athletic are to stay in the Championship they really need to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to promoted Brighton & Hove Albion, which ended a sequence of back-to-back home wins. That result has left them five points from safety and their two remaining home games have to be considered must-win games. So can they beat Cardiff City? The visiting Bluebirds have picked up points in five of their last seven games and they have done a decent job of picking up points on their travels in the past couple of months, avoiding defeat in four of their last seven away games. I fancy them to claim a point at the DW Stadium.
