Ralph Hasenhuttl WILL keep Southampton up, or so the bookies believe

Ralph Hasenhuttl WILL keep Southampton up, or so the bookies believe.

Southampton fired Mark Hughes this week as the beleaguered manager was relieved of his duties with the club. In his place, former-RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has been brought in, and he has a massive job ahead of him as he looks to save the floundering Saints.

Southampton currently sit in 18th in the league with nine points after picking up just a single win, while they have only netted 12 goals in that time, with their ability to score really hurting their survival push.

However, they will be buoyed by the fact that despite playing so poorly, they are only a point short of Huddersfield and safety, while they are above the likes of Burnley and Fulham. With this in mind, the bookmakers have made Southampton odds-on to stay up this season at 1/5 with William Hill. This is particularly interesting considering the fact that the Saints have been so poor, and the fact they are odds-on with the bookies will not likely install Southampton’s fans with much hope. These odds will likely drift massively if they are to take a hammering in Hasenhuttl’s first few matches, with the side seemingly destined for the Championship before Hughes was removed.

William Hill - Premier League - To Stay Up betting odds:

Southampton - 1/5

Fulham - 5/6

Cardiff - 5/4

Huddersfield - 5/4

Burnley - 13/8
