Southampton dispensed of the services of Mark Hughes this week after their woeful start to the campaign, which has seen them win one in 14, proved too much for the manager, who lost his job as a result.
Now, former Red Bull Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has been installed as the new main-man, and his only objective will be keeping Southampton up this season.
As things stand, the Saints are only a point short of safety, but the manner in which they have been playing, which has seen them hammered on more than one occasion, has seen their fans struggle to come to terms with how poor the side have been, while it has seen them sink down to 18th in the league.
The introduction of a new manager is often a move that can galvanise a team, with many a Premier League side of the past able to utilise the new ideas and tactics to save themselves. However, the move does not seem to have convinced everyone, with bookmaker bet365 actually shortening their price on Southampton going down to 3/1, having been 7/2 on December 4th. The side are still pipped in the betting to be the most-likely to go down, with Burnley (4/9), Cardiff (8/15), Huddersfield (8/15) and Fulham (10/11) all ahead of them. However, Hasenhuttl clearly has a lot to prove already, with his job an unenviable one, although if he is to keep them up, then it would be an incredibly impressive achievement.
bet365 - Premier League Relegation betting odds:
Burnley - 4/9
Cardiff - 8/15
Huddersfield - 8/15
