Toiling Terriers 8/1 To Avoid Relegation

Ben Darvill 11 Jan 2019

The Premier League's bottom-club Huddersfield face what could be a season-defining match against Cardiff on Saturday, with the Terriers in dire need of three points.

With eight Premier League defeats on the bounce, Huddersfield are a side embroiled in relegation-mire. The Terriers currently sit at the bottom of table with just 10 points, meaning they are eight short of Cardiff in 17th and safety, who are their next opponents.

If the Welsh side are to pick up another home win, then Huddersfield will be 12 short of the newly-promoted side, while if Burnley and Newcastle are to win their own games, then they could find themselves needing at least a massive 12 points in 16 games to get out of the bottom-three, which would be two points more than they would have picked up in 22 matches if they are to lose to Cardiff. Huddersfield are currently 8/1 to avoid relegation with bookmaker bet365, with their chances of remaining in England's top league slim.

Burnley face Fulham in another huge relegation battle, with the home side now 10/11 to avoid relegation after trading at 11/4 just before the turn of the year, with this weekend likely to see the battle to avoid relegation heat up.

“We’ve seen their price for the drop shorten to 1/12 after eight defeats on the bounce, and with Manchester City up next, the game against Warnock’s Cardiff has a real must-win feel to it,” Steve Freeth of bet365 told Bettingpro.
