France can make it a hat-trick of major international tournament wins on home soil by beating Portugal in the Euro 2016 Final – in 90 minutes – on Sunday night.

It may not have been the smoothest of rides in the semi-final, in the wake of that 5-2 trouncing of Iceland, but France did get the job done as they beat Germany on Thursday night. They were on the back-foot throughout the first half but were gifted the opportunity to take a lead into the interval when the referee penalised Bastian Schweinsteiger for handball inside his own area. Antoine Griezmann took that chance by slotting home the penalty and his second after the break wrapped up a 2-0 victory for Les Bleus.

“We had to suffer but never gave up and that's great for me,” manager Didier Deschamps said afterwards. “This is a great story - the players wrote history by knocking out Germany.  There is quality in this German team. And when they don't have the ball it gets even more complicated. We had the best team in the world opposite us.”

France still need to register one more win to become European champions and looking to deny them that crown on Sunday night are Portugal – who have reached the final despite winning just one match inside the 90 minutes.

Having drawn all three of their group games, the Portuguese needed extra-time to see of Croatia and then required a penalty shoot-out to get the better of Poland. They finally wrapped up a tie in regulation time when second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani lifted them to a 2-0 victory over Wales on Wednesday night – but can they really beat France?

The bookmakers believe the answer is no and have made Les Bleus odds-on favourites in the To Qualify market, with bet365 4/9 about a France success and 15/8 about Portugal getting their hands on the trophy. I am looking to the match betting market though, because I expect Deschamps boys to get the job done in 90 minutes. bet365 make them 21/20 favourites and I certainly recommend taking that price because, simply put, they are a better team in better form right now.

And of course, I have to suggest backing Antoine Griezmann to get on the scoresheet here. The France striker seemed to be suffering a bit of a hangover from his Champions League Final nightmare when the tournament got underway, but he has really come into his own during the knockout stage of the competition, sandwiching a goal against Iceland with doubles against the Republic of Ireland and Germany to take his tournament tally to six goals.

“What the guy is doing is astonishing,” France legend Thierry Henry told BBC Sport following Thursday night’s semi-final win. “He can score a hat-trick or four goals, I don't care. What a player.”

I have to agree with Henry. Griezmann, who scored over 30 goals for his club side last season, has been nothing short of clinical in his last three appearances for the national team. He will undoubtedly be a key man for them against Portugal on Sunday night and I fully expect the 25-year-old to get on the scoresheet.

He has delivered winning bets for me in each of the last two rounds and at 7/4 with bet365 I believe he will land me another by scoring anytime in the Euro 2016 Final. Those of you who want to combine a Griezmann goal with a French victory should head over to Ladbrokes with the bookmaker offering 5/2 in its Score/Win Double market.
