Norwich City v Brighton & Hove Albion Betting Tips Explained

There are three rounds of fixtures remaining in the Championship campaign and Brighton & Hove Albion already know that they will be playing Premier League football next season. The Seagulls secured promotion to the top flight last weekend when a 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic handed them an unassailable 10-point lead over third-placed Reading, and now they have an opportunity to make the title the icing on the cake this Friday night.

“What these lads want to do - whenever it is, two years' time, three years, 10, 20 years' time - is they want to be able to say they won the division and went up as champions,” manager Chris Hughton told Sky Sports News. “That will add something to all of their CVs, all of their thoughts when they're looking back. We've put ourselves in a good position to attempt to do it.”

Brighton go into this round of fixtures with a seven-point lead over second-placed Newcastle United and that means a victory at Norwich City will ensure they finish the season top of the table – but can they get the three points they need at Carrow Road?

Norwich have recorded a couple of comprehensive victories over the past few weeks, battering Reading 7-1 and beating Preston North End 3-1, but that has not been enough to keep alive their chances of a return to the Premier League this summer. The Canaries’ promotion bid was ended by a miserable run of form that saw them win just two games between early February and early April, and therefore you would assume they have no motivation to win this match.

You would be wrong because they will almost certainly be eager to avenge that 5-0 thrashing they suffered at Brighton last October. However, I do not see that happening. Norwich have been solid at home this season, but over the past few months they have been guilty of dropping points at Carrow Road and the visiting Seagulls are more than capable of leaving with all three points – they have won for their last six on their travels and they can make it five from seven at Carrow Road.

I also expect Glenn Murray to play his part by adding another goal to his impressive haul for this season. The Brighton forward came into the 2016/17 campaign having failed to hit double figures in the league in a season since his 30-goal showing for Crystal Palace in 2012/13, but the 33-year-old has been revitalised during the Seagulls’ promotion push, helping himself to 22 goals in the Championship. Murray has five goals in his last seven outings and he can make it six in eight here.
