Next Wales manager betting odds: Ryan Giggs odds-on for Wales job following interview reports

Ryan Giggs is the odds-on favourite to become the next Wales manager following reports that he has been interviewed by the Welsh Football Association.

The Welsh FA have been on the hunt for a new manager since Chris Coleman stepped down and took charge of Sunderland last November, and over the past couple of months several men have headed up the Next Wales Manager market at one time or another.

Former Manchester United and Wales winger Giggs has been repeatedly linked with the national team job as he looks to land his first permanent managerial role, and just last month the 44-year-old publicly admitted his desire to take charge of Wales.

“Of course I'm interested,” he told Sky Sports. “I played for Wales, I've said that I want to go back into coaching, and that is obviously one of the top jobs. I played for United, I played for Wales – those are the two jobs. I've not spoken to anyone at the moment but I'd definitely be interested.”

Sky Sports News is now reporting that sources have told them that Giggs has now been interviewed for the role, and bookmaker William Hill has responded by trimming the odds on the former winger all the way in to 1/3, making him the new favourite to succeed Coleman.

That movement has knocked another former Wales international, Craig Bellamy, off the summit of the betting. But at 3/1 Cardiff City’s player development manager, who also serves as a Sky Sports pundit, is still believed to be in contention for the top job in Welsh football, with reports claiming he too will be interviewed for the post.

Mark Hughes has emerged as a 10/1 dark horse following his recent sacking by Premier League side Stoke City, but the BBC has recently claimed that the 54-year-old, who managed Wales between 1999 and 2004, has non interest in returning to international management.
