Kettering Town manager seals Laurie Walker deal

Kettering Town manager Morell Maison has expressed his delight after securing the services of trialist goalkeeper Laurie Walker.

Walker, 21, will join the club on a permanent deal on Wednesday after representing League Two side Morecambe last season.

Maison has also revealed he hopes to bring in two more signings to finish off his new-look squad ahead of the 2011/2012 Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.

The Poppies boss has confirmed negotiations with the two unknown players are currently underway with one "very close" to being completed.

Maison seems more excited about the prospect of signing Walker though, who he believes has a bright future in the game.

Maison told Northants Evening Telegraph: "I like Laurie.

"He has got a bit of League experience with Morecambe and he is a big lad.

"He is young and he has a big future in front of him.

"The fact he has picked Kettering and we have picked him says a lot because we possibly could have had a more experienced goalkeeper in there. But we are going with him and I am delighted.

On the other possible signings, Maison added: "We have a couple more we are in negotiations with.

"I understand the chairman (Imraan Ladak) is very close to securing one of them.

"We have probably gone slightly outside the budget that was set but we want to be competitive in this league and we want to be entertaining and exciting.

"I believe we are two players short and that's what we are working on."
