Marseille v Nice Betting Tips Explained

Nice already know they will have a crack at playing in the Champions League next season, but following last weekend’s fine 3-1 win over Paris St Germain they still have an opportunity to go straight into the group stage of the competition. That massive home win has left them just three points behind PSG with three rounds of fixtures to go, so if they can carry on winning matches they will have an opportunity to pounce if Unai Emery’s men slip up between now and the end of the season.

On Sunday Nice will pay a visit to a Marseille side that have European ambitions of their own. Rudi Garcia’s side made it eight Ligue 1 games without a defeat as they battered Caen 5-1 last time out, and they have recorded a few emphatic victories in the past month or so to stay within touching distance of the top five. L’OM are just one point off the Europa League qualifying spots heading into this weekend and a win here could see them occupying one of those berths when this latest round of games is in the books.

However, I am not expecting victory for Marseille. Nice have enjoyed an excellent season and while they have not been able to replicate their fantastic home form on their travels, they have been pretty solid with just two defeats coming in 17 games. Nice know how to get the job done on their travels and I expect they will showcase that knack once again by taking a point or three from this trip to the Stade Velodrome.

I also suggest backing this game to feature plenty of goals. Marseille have rattled in 11 goals in their last four competitive home games, while two of their last three have produced four goals or more. Two of Nice’s last three have also produced at least four goals and the previous meeting between this pair saw five of them – so everything points to us seeing a bit of a goal-fest on Sunday night.

Marseille v Nice Stats
