Solskjaer co-favourite for United job

Ben Darvill 11 Jan 2019

Ole Gunner Solskjaer is currently the joint-favourite, along with Mauricio Pochettino, to land the Manchester United job on a permanent basis.

Bookmaker Betway have priced up Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s odds of becoming the permanent Manchester United manager following the former-stars superb start as the leader of the club.

Having been 15/8 to land the role, Solskjaer is now just 7/4 with the bookie after overseeing five-straight wins to start his time as caretaker-manager of the club off in the best possible way. Solskjaer is not alone at the head of the betting though, as he is joint-favourite along with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino at 7/4.

However, Poch has seen his odds of taking over at United drift from 11/10 after he claimed he was settled in London, while former-Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has also drifted to 6/1.

“There’s no doubt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made an big impact since taking the reins at Old Trafford and things couldn’t have gone much better, with five wins out of five,” Alan Alger of Betway told Bettingpro.

“His impressive start at the helm has seen us cut his odds to 7/4 to take the job permanently ahead of next season’s opening game and, if the run continues, it won’t be long before he’s the clear favourite.

“Mauricio Pochettino, long seen as the United hierarchy’s first choice for the job, has drifted from the clear frontrunner at 11/10 out to co-favouritism with Solskjaer as the support for the Norwegian continues.”
