Get the latest Major League Soccer betting odds and find out who the bookmakers are predicting will win the MLS Western Conference, who will be win the Eastern Conference, who will win the MLS Cup and who will end the season as top MLS goalscorer.

Major League Soccer 2016 Odds

The MLS is a rapidly-developing football league consisting of 20 teams throughout North America all jockeying for favourable play-off and post-season places with the ultimate goal to claim the MLS Cup.

There have been seven different winners in the past decade alone, with Houston Dynamo, Columbus Crew, Real Salt Lake, Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy, Sporting Kansas City and Portland Timbers winning one championship at least, a number of whom for the first time in their history.

The most successful team is the LA Galaxy, who won their first title in 2002 and have won five MLS Cup championships in total, though DC United are not far behind with four MLS Cups in their trophy cabinet.

In 2016, there were 17 MLS teams based in the United States and three based in Canada, with the reigning champions Portland Timbers looking to defend their title.

The league has, in general, been fairly unpredictable, with many teams capable of at least scoring, if not beating, another. But some clubs are at a considerable advantage thanks to a huge fan-base and/or relatively infinite financial resources.

New York City FC, for instance, were only founded in recent years but have already attracted world renowned names and been able to tally together some good results.

LA Galaxy, FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids, New York City FC, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC all have interesting odds to win the MLS Cup and are each blessed with a number of game-changing or match-winning players.

Major League Soccer Match Odds

Major League Soccer betting odds to win a championship can fluctuate greatly, particularly when competition at the top is so tight and a matter of one or three points can affect a contender’s standing so much, in the eyes of bookmakers, at least.

Despite only forming in 2013, New York City FC already have David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard on their roster. Patrick Vieira is their manager.
Some punters, therefore, take refuge in individual match odds. While there is certainly no sure thing when it comes to Major League Soccer betting, out of all sides in the Eastern and Western Conference, it is Colorado Rapids who are amongst the toughest sides to beat, while teams like FC Dallas, New York City FC and Toronto FC are capable of tallying numerous wins.

Other notable trends are, unlike leagues in Europe, high-scoring matches are actually fairly common and so Both Teams To Score - regardless of match result - is actually a bet worthy of consideration.

Betting on individual matches also has the benefit of ‘quick returns’ as punters can place bets on the morning of each game day and enjoy their potential winnings after the final whistle.

Major League Soccer betting odds for the MLS Cup, in contrast, keep money locked away for the duration of a lengthy, nine-month campaign.

Additionally, Major League Soccer live streaming is available from bookmakers such as bet365 - with more information right here - where registered members can take advantage of their live stream service, as well as bet in-play on desktop, tablet or mobile devices.

Major League Soccer Eastern and Western Conference Odds

Other popular ways of Major League Soccer betting odds include gambling on who will top the leaderboard in the Eastern and/or Western Conference.

The league, of course, is split into two conferences and teams are allocated into each conference depending on their geographical location.

Currently, the Eastern Conference consists of clubs like the Chicago Fire, DC United, Montreal Impact, both New York teams, Philadelphia United, Columbus Crew Orlando City and Toronto FC.

The Western Conference, meanwhile, includes the Colorado Rapids, Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders, Sporting Kansas City and Vancouver Whitecaps.

All teams play 34 games in the regular season, mostly within their own conference but also each of the members of the opposing conference just once, all drawn randomly (home / away). The top six sides from each conference qualify for the MLS play-offs, who then duel in a knockout round-robin until one team is left standing.

New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC and Montreal Impact tend to be favoured for the Eastern Conference title while FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids and LA Galaxy tend to be there or thereabouts for the Western Conference.

Major League Soccer Top Goalscorer Odds

There have been a number of prolific hitman in the MLS over the years.

While Landon Donovan, MLS Golden Boot winner in 2008, will be one of the most world renowned attackers thanks to his spell at Bayer Leverkusen, players like Jeff Cunningham from FC Dallas and Chris Wondolowski of the San Jose Earthquakes, both won the MLS Golden Boot twice and were revered for their prowess in and around the box between 2006 and 2012.

Since then, Bradley Wright-Phillips, son of legendary Arsenal striker Ian Wright, has won the MLS Golden Boot prize thanks to his incredible haul of 27 goals from 32 games in 2014.

And, most recently, skilful striker Sebastian Giovinco stormed to the top of the goalscoring charts with 22 strikes for Toronto FC.

However, Major League Soccer betting odds include prices for a number of excellent candidates this year and in future seasons thanks to the presence of Giovinco, New York City FC superstar David Villa, the aforementioned Wright-Phillips and even players like Diego Valeri, Dom Dwyer and Javier Morales.
