Premier League Top Four Betting Odds

With Liverpool one point ahead of Arsenal heading into the final weekend of the season, the hunt for a top four spot is the only race that has gone down to the wire.

William Hill make Liverpool 1/9 to finish in the top four, with Arsenal 5/1 underdogs.

“With the odds as they are, it will take a seriously dodgy batch of lasagne to get Arsenal into the top four this time around,” William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly told Bettingpro.com.

Liverpool v Middlesbrough Betting Tips Explained

The Champions League – or the qualifying rounds at least – are in sight for Liverpool heading into the final day of the season. Manager Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge has been a rollercoaster one with his side producing some superb results while recording some absolute shockers, but they have found their form at the right time following that miserable run in January and February, and they are now on the brink of returning to the Champions League in 2017/18.

The Reds currently occupy fourth spot in the table, which would earn them a spot in the qualifying rounds of next season’s competition, but they are only two points behind third-placed Manchester City and that means an automatic place in the group stage is not out of the question. However, more importantly, Arsenal are a point behind in the table so that means they must match of better the Gunners’ result in order to prevent Arsene Wenger’s men from pipping them to the post on the final day. Klopp admits that whatever happens on Sunday, his team will get what they deserve.

“It's an important game because it has been a very successful season so far, and we want to continue,” he told reporters. “We have to perform to win, if we have enough points after this game to go to the Champions League we deserve it, if not, we don't. The best thing would be if we are 4-0 up after two minutes but that won't be possible. Football games develop - and that always depends on the start. The start is important but if it is not good it does not mean we will stop.”

Liverpool could not have asked for better opposition to face on the final day than a Middlesbrough team that are already down and have performed woefully on their travels this season, winning only one of their 18 away games and scoring just 10 goals. An inability to find the back of the net is the last thing you need when facing a Liverpool side that have rattled in 75 goals in the league this season, and although they have been guilty of slipping up at Anfield on a few occasions it is hard to see Liverpool throwing away Champions League football against this poor Boro side.

I expect Liverpool will win this match in style and I am backing Daniel Sturridge to play a part by finding the back of the net. It has been another frustrating season for the injury-plagued striker, but ended his goal drought in last weekend’s 4-0 thrashing of West Ham United and he looked sharp as the Reds ran riot at the London Stadium. Sturridge can end this season on a high by getting on the scoresheet again this Sunday.
