Liverpool v Crystal Palace Betting Tips Explained

That miserable run of form between late January and most of February is now firmly in Liverpool’s rear-view mirror and they are closing in on a top-three finish that would guarantee them a place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League. Jurgen Klopp’s side are now unbeaten in their last seven games in the top flight, collecting 17 points from a possible 21, and that good run of form has kept them ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United. But can they stay there?

“Today we could only get to 66 points, so it feels perfect,” Klopp told reporters after the win at West Brom. “Next week [against Crystal Palace] we try at Anfield to get 69, and let's carry on. If we do what we have to do, we will be where we want to be.”

The Reds are just two points clear of City and six clear of United at this time, but Pep Guardiola’s men have a game-in-hand on the Merseyside giants while Jose Mourinho’s men have played two games less than them. That means the pressure is firmly on Liverpool to keep picking up three points and Sunday’s home match against Crystal Palace has to be considered a must-win match for them.

One look at the league table would suggest this should be a straightforward win for the Reds, but Palace will arrive at Anfield full of confidence thanks to a fine run of results that has seen them storm out of the relegation zone and go seven points clear of the bottom three. The Eagles have lost only one of their last seven games and during this run they have won 2-1 at league leaders Chelsea and they have thrashed Arsenal 3-0 on home turf, so Liverpool cannot afford to take them lightly.

With that being said though, Liverpool have shown in recent weeks that they are more than capable of winning ‘tough’ games, battling past stubborn West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City sides, and while I do not expect them to run away with all three points on Sunday, I do expect them to claim all of the spoils to ensure they end the weekend as they started it – in the top three of the Premier League.

I also expect Roberto Firmino to play a goal-scoring role for Liverpool. The Brazilian forward has scored in each of his last two Premier League appearances to take his tally to 11 Premier League goals this season – a career best – and he has developed a knack for scoring against Crystal Palace having netted in each of his last two games against the Eagles. Firmino can keep that goal-scoring run going with another goal on Sunday.
