Ligue 1 predictions for the weekend of January 11-13. Will Paris St Germain claim all three points when Ligue 1 emerges from its mid-season break, and can St Etienne claim a much-needed away win to boost their push for Champions League football? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips.

Lyon v Reims (Friday 19:45 GMT)

The title may be beyond Lyon this season, but there is still plenty to play for because they are one of several clubs looking to secure a top-three finish that would secure a shot at the Champions League in 2019/20. They currently sit third in the table, but they desperately need to develop more consistency during the second half of the campaign or they could be in for disappointment. They may have only lost two of their last 14, but they have also failed to string together a winning run of three games or more and they have now won only one of their last four in Ligue 1. However, they do have a good opportunity to collect three points on Friday night because they are facing a Reims side that were struggling for wins prior to the mid-season shutdown. The visitors have won only one of their last five games and while they have actually been doing a pretty decent job of collecting points on the road this season, they have managed to score only six goals on their travels. That makes this an ideal chance for Lyon to record another home win and keep their third clean sheet in their last four league games at home.

Amiens v Paris St Germain (Saturday 16:00 GMT)

Paris St Germain were able to end their winless ways in Ligue 1 prior to the mid-season shutdown, bouncing back from a couple of disappointing away draws by edging 1-0 win at home to Nantes, and they will now look to showcase the form they showed during the first few months of the season as they look to wrap up the title as quickly as possible. Next up for them is a trip to face Amiens – a team who are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone after managing only a handful of wins during the first half of the season and a team who were thrashed 5-0 when they visited Paris back in October. Paris St Germain’s away form is not as good as their home form – which is flawless – but there is absolutely no way I can predict anything other than an away win here. And when you considered the fact PSG’s 17 league games so far have produced an average of almost four goals, you have to like the chances of this being a high-scoring affair too.

Guingamp v St Etienne (Saturday 19:00 GMT)

St Etienne went into the winter break on the back of a solid 3-0 home win over Dijon, but their bid for Champions League football was dented by the fact they dropped points in three of their last five games prior to the shutdown. That dip has left them two points off the top three as they get set to return to league action on Saturday night and it means they will be eager to win back-to-back Ligue 1 games for the first time since early November when they step out onto the pitch to face Guingamp. But can they get the three points they crave? If St Etienne do miss out on the top three it will largely be down to a pathetic away record – only one team has performed worse on its travels in the French top flight this season. But if there was ever an away fixture they could want at this time it is this one – Guingamp are yet to win a single game at home this season and have collected just three points from a possible 15. Therefore I am going to give St Etienne the benefit of the doubt and back them for a vital away win.
