La Liga Primera Division predictions for the weekend of February 16-17. Will Barcelona remain six points clear at the top of the table or will they make it four league and cup matches without a win? Read on for all of our free predictions and betting tips.

Real Sociedad vs Leganes (17:30 GMT Saturday)

These teams are separated by two points in the middle of the table and home advantage should enable Real Sociedad to pull further clear of their weekend opponents.

Although Leganes enjoyed a good win away to Rayo Vallecano recently, they are generally a much stronger proposition on their own pitch and prior to that victory had scored just a solitary goal in their four previous road trips.

Sociedad are unbeaten in their latest eight matches to be just about in contention for a top-four finish, which would yield Champions League football next term, and they can boost their European hopes with another success.

Barcelona vs Real Valladolid (19:45 GMT Saturday)

February has not been a good month for Barcelona so far as they have yet to win in three attempts, being held by Valencia and Athletic Bilbao in the league and Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey.

But with a quartet of huge away matches coming up in three different competitions over 15 days, including two El Clasicos and a Champions League trip to Lyon, this would be the perfect time for Ernesto Valverde’s side to find their best form again.

Valladolid have lost three of their last four games without scoring, failed to find the net at home to struggling Villarreal last weekend and it is difficult to see them getting among the goals at Camp Nou.

Real Madrid vs Girona (11:00 GMT Sunday)

Despite being largely outplayed, Real Madrid showed their Champions League prowess to grind out a win away to Ajax on Wednesday and can follow up against out-of-sorts Girona.

Six straight league and cup defeats have followed five consecutive draws for Girona, who have not won in La Liga since November, and this looks a perfect match for the European champions after their terrific 3-1 victory in the Madrid derby last weekend.

Goals tend to flow freely when these teams meet – there have been 27 in their five meetings this season and last, and it is unlikely to be any different in this latest encounter at the Bernabeu, especially with Girona likely to be low on confidence.
